I got through on Saturday. It took me a few tries. A few times it did keep ringing.

Thanks, called and the lady gave me my annual declination over the phone. Now I can schedule all the rest of my vacation for the deer lease.

What 800 number? I tried the 792-1112 number, followed the promts and just got a long ring.....then nothing. Same with the 512 number. Then tried the 800 number again, followed the promts and got nothing. Guess they don't want me to know!

I had the same results today at noon. Frustrating

At this rate we wil be getting either a wondeful envelope or the dreaded postcard in the snail mail before we get through on the phone system. In 25 some odd years of dealing with TPWD from state parks to the public hunting programs this is my first time I can complain about anything, so I guess I shouldnt.

This is the first year that I mailed the post cards in to see if I could get drawn. I'll admit my ignorance, I did not know that you had to call to check in to see if you were drawn. Is there a way to check on the interweb to see?? If I can't check on-line, what is the number to call and check? I thought they would just send you some type of notification if you were drawn. No notification mean not drawn for anything?

You will be notified if you're drawn or not.

If you're drawn, you'll receive a letter requesting payment for the hunt. If you're not drawn, you'll get a post card indicating non-selection for that hunt.

The phone system was put in place to satisfy the impatient folks.

Today from TPWD via Facebook:

The Public Hunt Drawings for the seven categories that had a Sept. 6 deadline have been completed. The last of the notification letters for the winners are going into the mail as we speak. If you won you should have your letter by early next week at the latest. Unfortunately the IRV system that allows you to call in to check your status is down. Please try it later in the week to check your results. Hopefully it will be back up by tomorrow. Thank you for your patience. Congratulations to the winners

Call the 800 number and get the operator to put you in to the hunting section. Don't use the automated selections.Did this earlier today and got my info. Picked for the management deer hunt in Nov at James Daughtry. Yea !

Good news:
I tried 20 times, the last it worked. It was busy until then.

Bad news:
still didn't draw for gun mule deer. Maybe next year as I have 6 preference points now.

Dizzy that sounds like a combination of really good and really bad luck. I have been trying for days and have been unsuccessful. I am just going to allow myself to be excited for a few more days before I am (most likely) disappointed.

Looks like it may be another tough year. I'm 0 for 3 so far but I've still got 4 more categories to get lucky in. I've got 11 or more points in 4 different categories. Oh we'll it ain't over till its over. Baker

Thanks for the heads up guys. I'll just wait until my post card notifications, or letters, arrive.

Ytsejam, regarding you question about the Inks Lake/Longhorn cavern area, I used to live on Lake LBJ and I got drawn for an either-sex hunt there about 15 years ago. Don't know how it is now, but at that time the place was overrun with deer. The TPWD guys there said that they wanted everyone to kill a deer regardless of sex. They said that they wanted "mouths" removed from the place. I took a small 8-point. I hunted on the Inks Lake section. Blinds were ground blinds made from concrete reinforcing wire bent in a circle to form a 5-foot diameter blind and covered with camo netting. A couple of 2X4's were laid across from one side to the other to sit on. Kind of primitive, but effective. You could make it a little more comfortable if you brought a couple of folding chairs, and removed the 2X4's.

Thanks for the info
Hopefully my son will get his first deer. He got drawn for a doe hunt 2 years ago, and all we saw were bucks.

Seems like the phone line is up and running again as of last night around 11 pm. Unfortunately I was not drawn for anything. I knew beginner's luck was a crock...

Good luck to everyone else who hasn't heard yet!
