Do you use bait with those traps?

Funny thing about getting older:
Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to
see through people's BS gets much better.

Yes, I am sure people use different things. I use marshmallows in some and Game Fish Chow by Purina. I use to have tons of coons in one TC pic...now I have none. I know they are still around because I am still catching them in the traps every once in a while. I keep on it, and the deer actually get to eat the corn instead of the coons.

Won't help with existing feeders, but I just built mt last one with the legs at a shallower angle and mounted them halfway up the barrel instead of at the bottom. The coons can climb the legs until they're blue in the face, but they can't reach the feed unit.

Old age ain't for sissies!

The key to having cages on feeders is the proximity of the cage to the spin plate. I have seen the cheap ones @ Academy that just barely will go around the mechanism. It goes without saying it's pretty worthless.

The ones I have are big cages, and just fit inside the outer lip of a 55 gal barrel. Unless they climb the pole with a stick to poke at it, they're not getting in.
