I have one that I rebarrelled to 300 blk out. The trigger isn't bad for as cheap as the gun is, there are more cast parts than I would like to see but it works as intended.

One of my buds has a 223 Heavy Varmit Savage, I set the trigger
prior to their current triggers..It will shoot about 25 or so shots into the same hole before the group widens and the bbl has
to be cleaned..Good enough he put a Nightforce scope on it...My
Remington 700 22-250 does the same thing and the trigger was better, and it doesn't have a sweet spot, you really have to get it dirty to lose the groups..and I've killed a lot of deer with it also..DD

You would never regret going with a standard Savage over an Axis for maybe 100 more.

Never had a dog fail me yet.

End dog fighting.
