Well guys we decided the wait is over and so we loaded up the gear and headed to North Texas to see if we couldn't put a hurting on a few coyotes... We wanted to start the filming for our 2nd DVD and this was the first hunt of this season so we started fresh. Turns out the coyotes were moving very well because of a cold snap and some good overcast that had blown in on fri night. So we decided to take advantage of the situation and try some night hunting. We figured out real fast that this year must be a great year for coyote pups because every were we hunted we called in doubles of this years model ... But that's fine they grow up and wreck havic on wildlife and ranchers sheep, goats , calfs , Ect... We managed to kill 11 coyotes total in 3 days and nights of calling and laid down some really cool hunts on film for the next DVD. All In all it was a fun hunt with great friends and family every body that went had a opportunity to pull the trigger on a coyote even my wife got to kill one with my SBE 2 at 30 yards! Im really excited that fall is right around the corner it's my favorite time of year and the predators our on the move. Most of these pups had bellys full of grasshoppers but still had to come check out the caller and our hand calls. Ronnie shot this full grown male on a day stand and he responded to coyote vocals... You have got to love calling coyotes in Sep!!!! Big thanks to Ronnie , Kevin, and Dustin for having us

It's the overalls i don't know what it is about them but it brings them in but on the other hand we had some good calling and shooting and light running by Seth and and ronni ... And this is just the beginning of a good season to come.

Thats great. I hope to get out for a weekend and try my hand at it as well.
i would be nice to have a veteran to take me out and show me some tricks...but due to getting on a new lease (first in 5yrs) most of my money going to prep and dont have the funds for a guilded hunt.

Seth I had a good time. When I killed that big male coyote I howled for about 20 seconds and just set and watched for maybe 2 minutes and here he came. I killed that coyote on a place that is way over hunted by every coyote hunter in grayson county. I'm looking forward to seeing the footage we got. Thanks for the post guys. We hope you guys kill a ton of critters this year!!!!!!

Ranchers don't care if you have to wipe milk off their mouth before you load em in the truck LOL. Big or small they are fun to hunt!!!!!

IF I called in 11 in a year, I'd think I was The Coyote Whispher.

Unfortantly they don't grow up to be vegetarians so when we're doing predator control we shoot them. After all they sure don't care if they kill a new born fawn or baby goat Ect....

As far as our shooting goes my rifle shoots minute of coyote pretty well... Lol
I was pretty proud of it that night it didn't matter who was pulling the trigger the savage model 10 predator in 243 did its job!

I'm thinking of buying my first electronic caller. Any suggestions?

It's hard to beat Fox Pro they pretty much have a caller in any price range and plenty of options to choose from as well as tons of sounds and you can program diffrent sounds right at home no need to send back to manufacture. I really like the CS 24 their tuff calls.

1+ for .243 at night hot load 55gr nosler partition 3900fps flat to 400yds. Don't have to judge distance, just make mental note of 500yd mark.

Hard ware your exactly right.... It's a flat shooting tack driver ... A bunch of folks over look the 243 as a varmint round with the light bullets it gives all the others a run for their money if not surpasses them. It's always been my fav caliber good for all sorts of hunting but deadly on coyotes it hammers them.

You want to really see a coyote hammer try a 6mm Ackley
Running a 75 gr bullet @ 3900 FPS... That's the best choice I have found but allot more work for almost the same results the 75 gr bullets just buck the wind better for those past 500 yard shots ... But we only take those in the day time under very good conditions. After all the object is to get them close and kill them with the shotgun... Lol

Seth, if you don't mind, what bullet and grain were you shooting? I figure it was a handload, but just curious.

That night I was using factory ammo for my 243

Load was Hornady 58 gr Vmaxes they worked pretty well.
