Well, we got back from our elk hunting trip in New Mexico. The weather was hot and dry, and elk were not talking at all yet. We were in a little town of Blue Water, NM, which is about an hour West of Albuquerque. We were on a private ranch bordering the national forest that we also hunted on. We had fun, but no elk this year!

Plus, the last day of our trip my bow semi broke. One of the limbs started peeling layers of material and seperating off in flakes. So, time for a new bow or some new limbs.

Really I just got back last week and they were talking up a storm, I was a little North of you. I was a little greedy looking for a 320+ bull and passed several bulls. Like the saying goes "do not pass up on the first day what you would shoot on the last day." I came home empty handed.

We saw some elk, but nothing to shoot at.

Same for us, warm weather, not a whole lot of bugling topped off by heavy hunting pressure

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I was North of Santa Fe and saw bulls everyday from 10yd-50yds. The bulls were bugling pretty heavy, elk definitely do not handle the pressure at all, thanks for sending them my way.

That sucks about your bow, I would check to see if you can get the manufacture to replace them under warrenty.

I still have an old Pearson recurve, about 51 years old. Don't believe it has anything to peel? smile
