I stumbled on this forum when looking for plans to build a deer blind. I have just been a "lurker" since I joined on the first of August, but I have to admit that I'm very impressed with this forum. The community is very helpful and civil to each other, quite a change to some other forums (non-hunting) where I am a member.

That said, I built my first deer blind thanks to all of the ideas and pictures that were posted here. I want to especially thank Texasspazman for his "how to" guide and pictures and also to twinbubba for giving me the window idea.

Here are some pictures that I took along the way.

I anchored it to a mesquite tree that I cut the top out of under the stand. I thought that would be much stronger than any posts that I could drive in.

Good job on blind and nice setup. Where you hunting?
You know you’re going to have to take your buddy hunting with you one weekend for helping you set up your stand!!!

I almost forgot... WELCOME to the Forum!!!

Thanks. I mainly hunt out in West Texas, on a place close to Snyder. The guy in the picture with me is my adopted brother, I haven't been able to talk him into hunting yet, thinking if talk him into shooting a hog and that will hook him.

Nice job and glad the windows idea worked out for you. We are on our third year with those windows and no problems so far.

Thank you all. I'm going to build a 5x5 next with a bow window, I just have to wait for the loss of use of the full garage to not be so fresh in my wife's mind.

Great blind I'm sure you will get your brother hooked if he has just an ounce of interest in the outdoors.

If you ever have any "mature" hunters joining you they may have challenges with your ladder. Of course, that could work the other way to dissuade them from joining you! LOL!

Man, that is a sweet set-up. Get your brother on a hog and clean it quickly, put it on ice and fire up the smoker...He'll be hooked. Oh yeah you can also cut up some medallions, dredge in flour, fry-daddy for 3 minutes, salt, pepper, enjoy.
