I have done it before with good luck, but i found its easer to find a school church etc , with a nice drive way or side walk and sweep them up , rakeing is a chore

It works. Now I hunted a place with no oak trees for miles and the deer had no idea what to do with them so I had to cut several open before they figured out they were food.

It might not be acorns, but find out what they are eating in your area. Years ago we had a hunter on our lease that came from Pennsylvania. He bought two bushels of apples and spread them out instead of using a feeder. You could see where the deer took one sniff of the apples and ran like hell. At the end of the season the apples were still there. Nothing touched them. Here in the hill country the deer love acorns and cedar berries. Cedar berries are not ripe until season is over, so acorns are it. Black eyed peas and peanuts work best in the valley where they grow.

I used to sweep up the acorns that fell onto my parents driveway. Dug a small hole next to my feeder and threw the acorns in there before I went hunting. Deer would eat the acorns before they ate the corn.

Kinda worked for us! The acorns at our ranch are smaller than the ones at home! the ones at home seem to be a lot bigger and thicker so it took the deer awhile to learn what they were!! But by the end of the week all of them were gone! Heck we even got pigs on our trail cam eating them haha!!
You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas! -Davy Crocket This is duck hunting...shirts and shoes are optional

I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

My lease does not have acorns. Last year I gathered up about a 5 gallon bucket worth of them and took them to my lease. Dumped them out in my feeder pen and the deer tore them up. Will be doing it again this year.

Will be doing it again this year. That is interesting. I have always been file that introduceing a foreign food source ie. Acorns in an area with no acorn producing trees was a waste of time. Dame with apples. But we all use corn in the south in areas tba almost no corn is grown commercially but it gets eaten. Do I guess they just adapt.

I have spread them under the feeder at my place several times. They come in and eat it but they also eat the corn. No difference really except one is free which I dig.

I collect from my oak trees at home and spread them out near my stand. Works like a charm!
You can use a shop-vac to collect them too, which saves the back. Or tell your kids it's a game (like Easter eggs)!!
