with hunting season here I put my blind up a couple of weeks ago. today I opened up the door in there were 1,000,000 love bugs on the floor dead. is there anyway to keep the love bug out other than completely sealing the blind. they were crawling all over the outside of the blind as well.

I'd be a vegitarian too if bacon grew on trees.

Totally sealing is probably the only way. You could also spray the outside with something like Demon or Tempo to try and kill them before they get in. I lived in Florida for a couple of years when I was in the Marines and the Love Bugs were BAD there. They would stop up your car radiator.

You have to seal it up.

No not lady bugs. They are LOVE BUGS. Google them

They will cover a windshield in less than 10mi. I used to drive a truck ovet the road. I hated driving down south during the love bug season

They are awful out around Rayburn now & you have to get the dang things off your vehicle or they'll stain your paint.

No big deal really, they are only doing their thing for a couple of weeks in the Spring and Fall. You won't even know they are around by the end of Sept.

They are a quick protein snack on the motorcycle or ATV.

I don't care if they are getting it on in my stand as long as they get out before they die.

I remember the Love Bug invasion of Nacogdoches around '97 or
'98. Those things were terrible.

They're horrible in east Texas at night. They'll cover up your front bumper and windshield and are a PITA to get off!

I was teal hunting on Lake [censored] this morning and it was miserable trying to walk in some places. They were swarming all over and if I had to walk through one, I came out the other side covered with them. Also, the water's edge was thick with the larval skins. They must have just hatched.

The carp loved it though. If I had wanted to, I could have just reached down and grabbed them; they were nearly beaching themselves to eat the stuff.

I heard from a friend whose friend's friend was a chemical engineer who did a lab analysis on love bugs and said that they are 85% salt. I always thought it was 85% glue. That is why they are such bad ju ju on car finishes. Spray your car down with WD40 and get to the car wash. I have had to stop by a car wash just to clean my windshield enough to get home in some areas.
