i think everyone knows the AR will hit the cartridges really hard. almost everyone of cartridge from AR 308 will be dent on the middle of it.

my question is can I still use them to reload? I asked the factory, they said, that dent is normal. And will void the warranty if I used reload ammo.

When you full length resize the case much of the dent is removed. Yes you can reload the cases. What manufactuer voids warranties with reloaded ammo?

I use it all the time, just inspect the brass before each load for the regular issues: loose primer pocket, ring around the base (case head seperation concern), split necks, etc...

As long as the dent does not crease the case more like a Ding most will reload them. Some should pop out on resizing. the case. Pressure in the chamber will pop the rest out but then the case will probably get dinged again on ejection from your rifle.

They'll be fine to reload a few times. Semi-auto's are invariably tough on brass because it's pulling a hot piece of brass out of a chamber that wants to keep it. Hell, my Garand dents the case mouth pretty good, to the point that the mouth is shaped like a "D", but the brass has never been ruined by it.

Yeah, my AR 223 dents the sides and my AR 300BO dents the necks.
Just keep an eye on them and they should not be a problem.
The dents will straighten out when you fire them but if they hit the deflector on the way out, the dent will move to the side that hits.

Pretty much every manufacturer has in their warranty void if using reloads you can thank lawyers and retards for doing that

The only company that ive had a good experience with when it comes to reloads is TC

I asked for chamber dimensions and they were happy to give them to me a asked what bullet powder etc i was gonna use and told me their recipes

the only gun that I have ever seen that consistently destroyed brass was the old roller block HKs. I have personal experience with numerous sl7s and 770s. Upon ejection they fling the brass back against the receiver and literally crush the neck. It cannot be resized. Other than that most of the AR platform rifles will dent the case but not enough to jeopardize the integrity.

I ended up sticking a piece of the velcro tap on my shell deflector, the soft sided piece and it seems to help in keeping the cases from getting all banged up. Ive also heard you can use some of the rubberized type epoxy's. The tape is a quick fix and seems to last awhile.

I was thinking about using tape, like you said but was afraid it would take the blue or finish off the receiver. If they were cheap guns It wouldn't matter but the prices have gone insanely thru the roof and they are fast becoming safe queens. Thanks for the advice and if you know how it affects the blue or in HK's case plum color finish let me know.

This. A slightly dented case is fine to reload. As soon as you pull the trigger, the dent goes away. But as soon as it ejects it, a new dent goes in it's place.
My 260 bolt gun dents up the case mouth, and it will be straight after resizing.

I have a bunch of LC brass that I cannot reload effectively because the extractor bent the case head (they won't stand up strait because the bottom is not flat); they cannot be perfectly sized.

I ran into this last weekend I was resizing a bunch of mixed brass that was given to me and I found about 15% of the lake city brass had this issue so in the trash they went.

I am going to take a wild@#$ guess regarding the LC brass..... if you use too slow a powder in a semi ( I consider Varget too slow for an M1A ) you can see this. After firing the chamber pressure has not dropped enough for the brass to spring back before the action tries to unlock and extract the cartridge. You have one of 3 things happen....1) the extractor tries to rip off the case rim, and occasionally wins leaving a round stuck in the chamber or bends the rims, 2) the extractor gets damaged and fails, or 3) the op rods get bent ( M1A )and you have an expensive repair. Gas guns still can have 1&2 but dont have op rods.

I would never reload with the dents. Voids the warranty, huge safety issue.

I've never seen a "dented brass" warranty, but have seen many "No Reloads" warranties. The dent is not a safety issue unless the brass has been work hardened. In all honesty, the dent is sort of a n indicator that the brass is still pliable and NOT work hardened.
