I'm taking junior out hunting this year and he needs a license to pull the trigger on game. What do I need to bring when we get his license?

Ssn#

I don't smoke ,so I can't say but I highly doubt it. I do know a loud fart works! I think they like the smell plus I guess they think it's a buck grunt.

if you need a SSN, then i stand corrected...

but, i have taken both my daughters to academy in separate years to get their first license and they never asked for a SSN or any identification. just $7 and here you go.

I was thinking it was 12$. That may have been for a combo. Either way they are correct on the SSN.

For youth, you do not need the SSN. I have been through this at Academy a few times, including just a few weeks ago when I could not remember my son's SSN and my wife was not at home to look it up for me. The computer program will ask for the SSN, but if it's a youth the computer will process the license without the SSN. If the employee helping you does not know this, a more experienced employee will know.

The purpose of the SSN is to check for unpaid child support obligations.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

How about a hunter education class/card to do the hunt also.
Is that needed?

When I took hunter ed, you had to be at least 13 to get credit for it, so I would asume they just need to be accompanied by a licensed hunter that is over the min age or has a valid card.

Thanks for the info. My little ones are gone for a long time so I didn't remember any age limit for that card.

As far as I am aware that is incorrect. You will need his SSN the first time you get his license and they will ask you every year after that but they can look it up in their/twpd system if you don't have it but then again.......

I was told my son had to be 9 to take hunters Ed and until then had to hunt within hearing range of me. $7 gets everything they need. They don't need federal stamp to hunt ducks, no fishing license required either.

Not for a youth license. They can get a youth license thru the age of 16 and have to hunt with an adult at all times. Will have to get an adult license and hunters ed once he or she turns 17.
