Im have decided to buy another AR after I sold mine a few years ago. I plan on buying a separate 22lr upper and slide fire stock. How would you create this setup?

It's simply a matter of ordering them. Go to Palmetto State Armory, pick out what you need, and order the lower, the 5.56 upper, the .22 upper, and the slide fire stock. I'd recommend the CMMG dedicated uppers for .22.

Are you planning on only using the slide fire for .22, rather than the 5.56? If that's what's got you confused, I think the slide fire allows you to do standard semi-automatic fire.

Good info Ill check em out! The slide fire would primarily be for the 22lr unless one of my friends wants to buy a whole lot of 556 ammo! grin

Yeah, it's gotten a bit too expensive for most of us to be running through 5.56 that quickly. I'd love to run some .22 through a rifle with the slide fire on it, though.

Have fun with your new rifle!

Correct me if I am wrong somebody but I don't think the 22lr has enough power to operate the slide fire ?

I haven't used it with the 22 and haven't read anything about it being used with that round but I would doubt it has enough power...

If your doing this set up mainly to do the bump fire for 22 you might want to check their website to wee if it will even work...

There are plenty of youtube videos of a slide fire used on a M&P with no problems. I understand they are all light weight plastic though. Its possible with an alluminum assembly that they wont work.

they do work on a standard 22 upper but you need a really good trigger. they are more reliable on the M&P or heavier calibers but with a little practice an aluminum upper in 22lr will work.

The only slide fire stocks I have seen work on a 22 upper have all had a muzzle break that is ported to the rear blowing the gas back instead of forward or out to the side.

Well I did get an M&P 15-22 yesterday. Installed a slide fire on it today and blew through two clips lightning fast! This is gonna be one awesome turtle popper!

Get a CMMG dedicated upper if you want accuracy if you dont then just get the bolt replacement

Ive heard nothing but problems with a slidefire and an Al gun and the opposite for the M&P1522 and slidefire i always figured the Al guns would soak up too much of the little recoil from the 22lr
