Great looking ram. Congratulations. I was up there this time last year and that is the most beautiful area to hunt or just drive around and look.

Heres a summary of our hunt:
We left Anchorage for the bush on Aug 24th, and left the bush September 10th. Only days it didnt rain were the days we flew in and out of the bush. It was very tough hunting, when we were finally able to get to the sheep we had already hiked 4 miles into the final drainage only to come up the opposite side of where we thought they were, we decided to play it by the book, hike down the mountain unseen through a washout in the river valley to get to the mountain on the backside of where the rams were bedded. We then hiked up and over the top to get on top of them. The closest we were able to get was 391 yards from the rams. I heart shot my ram after missing the first shot high. He fell at least 1000 verticle feet down a shale slide before stopping but his cape was not too badly damaged. We cut up the meat and caped him that night before going another 2 miles back to spike camp. Needless to say it was a loooong day. The next day we packed the ram half way out of the drainage. The day after we got him down to a small airstrip a piper cub could land on. I was beat by the time we got out but the ram was worth it.
Earlier in the hunt my buddy took a nice smaller caribou and I had a chance to shoot a couple 60-65" moose but the guide told me to hold off as we could get a better one. I should have shot one of them but we had seen an absolute monster earlier so I held out too long for him.
It was a great trip cant wait to get my mount back!

I saw some on the mountains when I was riding the train to Carcross. The terrain looked just like that. Well done.

"We then hiked up and over the top to get on top of them." Sheep are never easy but aren't they fun? Really great his fall didn't damage those great horns-especially the lamb tips he looks like he still has.
