My uncle gave me this rifle over the weekend, it's a '37 model 1903 that somebody practiced drilling holes in

I'm leery to shoot it given the Swiss cheese-osity of the front ring. Nice but plain stock with a Buehler type safety and a Redfields mount. No potential as a collector- appears to have been rebarreled.

So shoot or no shoot? Any idea what these other holes fit?

It should be safe to shoot the 2 big ones are for a modern scope mount and the three other holes look like they could be for an older style scope mount maybe a flip to side

I agree it should be safe. I am sure that action has been well tested in it's current condition before you picked it up.

Shoot it. I use one for deer hunting. One of the strongest rifles I own.

I would have it checked by a smith. Just because you can chamber a 30-06 doesnt mean thats what it is(unless you know what it is from who you got it from)

I would have the chamber casted to make sure what the caliber is.
