Work has been killer and I haven't been able to hunt or scout for Teel. I'm taking a sick day Thursday (I hope) and heading up to some public land around a large lake to the north of the DFW area. Since I don't have a boat, I think I'm going to pack light and be ready to pick-up and move if I'm not seeing birds.

Gun, 2 boxes of 12ga #7's, 6-12 deeks in a backpack style bag, binos and a head lamp. Think thats about it.

Wish me luck!

Remington Sportsman 12ga, 2-3/4" #7 steel shot. Got it on sale at Bass Pro for $7.50 a box. Should be good for teel and any dove that come by. (Lead would be #7-1/2, not #7).

Better to have plenty of shells. I always take at least two when I go.

Good luck. I flew in the night before the Oklahoma opener from a week in Charlston, SC. Flew in last night after three days in Denver. Both morning after hunts were fantastic. Don't have to scout teal. Just hunt shallow.

Good news for me. No more trips for me this year. Just hunting.

I don't always shoot #7 steel while Teal hunting, but when I do, I prefer Fiocchi 1 1/16 oz 1325fps Target Loads. Keep hunting, my friends.

Two of my geese saturday were shot with #7 steel. Just shoot for the head which one really needs to do with those magnum canadas no matter what size shot. Both fell dead. The cripple that had to be tracked down was shot with #4 steel.
