I have a friend who recently started shooting shotguns and really enjoys it. But then again why would he, it's a awesome. Anyways, it turns out he's right handed with a dominant left eye. I would like to hear from those with this same issue.
What do u folks do? Any tips that help?
I do t have a clue what to suggest because it's just a nonissue for me. Your help is appreciated.

I have the same issue, it feels weird but I have started shooting shotguns and pistols left handed. My dad wears shooting glasses with tape on his left eye to make his right eye do the work since the left eye doesnt have clear vision.

I've used tape, cut to fit piece of cardboard. The clip on sunglasses with the right lense removed is a good option. If the dark of the remaining lense doesn't do the trick, then it can be taped. My right eye takes over pretty quick after blocking the vision of the left eye, after that I don't need anything covering the left eye.

After years of practice I have gotten better. Very right handed but practiced a lot with a BB gun when like 10 years old shooting left handed, doesn't really matter now which shoulder I use. I still have to remember to shut the left eye when shooting right handed. After 5 to 10 shots though I can hit without closing the left eye,
Shot with a guy that had his prescription lens in his non dominant eye and clear in the dominate side on his shooting glasses, worked well for him

I have the same issue. I have to close my left eye for rifle and shotgun, not the ideal solution but it works. I tried obscuring the left side of my glasses, I found it better to just close the eye. I have started trying to shoot pistol left handed, it will be awhile before I get over many years of shooting pistol right handed but it definitely is good practice to be proficient with both hands.

On Pistols I just adapt to use my left eye when shooting with either hand.

I am cross dominant. I shoot pistols right handed and I just turn my head a bit to line up my left eye with the sights.
With long guns I just shoot left handed as it doesnt bother me as I started shooting that way since I was in boy scouts when I found out i was left eye dominant.

Tried all the methods, don't know what to tell you. I shoot right, left eye dominant. And honestly, I couldn't tell you what I do, and I shoot very well with a shotgun. I just don't think about it or let it bother me.
Definitely close my left eye when shooting rifle and I'm pretty sure I keep both open shooting shotgun, possibly squinting my left. I think the biggest thing is just to not let it dominate your thought process while shooting. Get out and practice and figure out what works best for YOU.

Same issue. To make matters worse I can't close my left eye and leave my right open. I shoot long guns left handed and pistol right handed.

I do everything in the world right handed, except for shoot. Never had a big deal and since my dad was the same way he never tried to force me to change. Putting tape over your left eye trying to go against what your body naturally wants to do is ridiculous. Go with the flow, the only thing I don't like about being a left hander is shooting left handed rifles (been shooting right handed guns, left handed for 40 years, and bow shopping (no one carries a good stock of left handed bows, have to go to 10 different shops and then go to Rednek Booda and have him order me what I want.

A new shooter shoot to the eye not the hand. it will save him a lot of frustration as he goes along.

And here I thought that I was the only one. I can thank my step dad that was left handed and taught me how to shoot, left handed...lol!! When I shoot handguns I use my right eye with my right hand, when I shoot rifles I shoot either hand, closing the corresponding eye. When I shoot shotguns I tend to keep both eyes open for the simple fact that depending on what you are shooting, birds, skeet, whatever, a shotgun just needs to be pointed in the general direction. I find it easier to track the flight path of the animal better with a wider field of vision.
