8 guys the first day and 4 the second. Really got to break in the new boat! Shallow water, mud, grass, stumps, HEAVY load, racing to the hole...it worked out great.

These are the new additions our crew made for this season. My boat is the green one. '09 1848 PD with a 36 PD motor. My friends boat was bought new. It's a '12 1754 PD with a 36 PD motor. They are really fun to drive and definately open up more options in hunting locations.

How does the 18 foot boat compare to the 17 foot as far as speed and handling is concerned. Those are two popular sizes, just wondering what you think about them since you can compare them side by side with similar loads.

18 will carry a heavy load better than the 17 given the motor hp is equal. it will plane quicker as well with more bottom surface area = more planing area. Unloaded the 17 will be a skoach faster as it will run on a smaller pad which = less drag on water. Guys that hunt out of their rig obviously will get a bit more room with the 18 but the 17 is usually adequate for up to 3 hunters comfortably and 4 could squeeze in. Either way both will work fine for most guys needs. I run a 1750 and my next G Trax in the spring will be 1850. MIght as well get a bit more room for only $150 more.

My boat seems to run faster and get on plane quicker and easier in shallow water. His is a little wider so it is a little more roomy. It was hard to tell which one carried a load better. They were both packed to the max with 4 guys, a dog, hunt equipment, and a bunch of camera equipment. Overall there was very little difference.
