Me and my daughter are about to leave to the hunting lease for the first time together. We are going to do some scouting and hopefully get a couple of hogs or yotes.

This will be her first time hunting and she is VERY excited.

I will post the results when we get home later tonight.

That is great. I started taking each of my 3 daughters when they were 4-5 years old. My oldest is now 20, middle daughter is 18(both out of state in college now), and my youngest who is 11, all still love to go with me and are very proficient in the field. It was always my goal to include them and enjoy the outdoors, they love it. A word of advice keep it fun, don't hunt as long as you would solo, bring something for them to do (a book, a snack, a toy). I never allowed electronics we were there to enjoy nature, and get away. The tripartite with my daughters have been my moat memorable and favorite. It was my, goal to grow closer with them and give them a love of the outdoors , as well as pass on a hunting legacy. Good luck, its worth every minute.

Well. We had fun. Lots of walking. We watch about a dozen turkeys.....two of which were fighting to the death. We were able to get within about 20yds of them before they ran off.
She loved that she got to see them.

At about 6p we went to the stand. I got to see a skunk. Then right before dark came the fun stuff.
We could hear them in the thicket behind us for a good 20 min. My daughter was getting excited. That's when about 10 cows and yearling calves come out of the brush. My daughter about wet herself. Lol.

We did try to call in some yotes but failed.
Didn't see any deer or hogs this time either. Oh well. There will be other days.

I will post pics when I get them uploaded.

Here is a pic us just after we got ready for the scouting trip. I will say, she is tough. She wont quit and she didnt complain one single time. If anything, she wanted more. Also, She toted that shotty and backpack around the entire time without a single whimper.I even offered to tote the pack but she said she was good to go. thats my champ.

side note....thats not my camper...tho I need one like it

Thats just a bushnell 3x9 that I pulled from a lever gun I bought a while back. I hate scopes on my lever guns.
I am waiting for the mail man to bring my Burris 1x6 E-DOT and my Larue LT-104. That set up will go on my other 6.8 as my primary hunting rig. This will be my back-up and the gun my other half and daughter will use.

Im also debating on just pulling the optics off of this one all together and using troy fixed sights.

I went through that with my youngest daughter as well. Oldest one doesn't want much to do with hunting and all things outdoors, my baby girl (who is now in her 7th week at Parris Island, btw) is a MACHINE when it comes to doing ANYTHING having to do with hunting.

Awesome when that happens, isn't it?

Fantastic pic!

I don't see me getting nv anytime soon so I opted for the non qd style.

I have 3 girls. This one 15, the next is 14, and the baby just turned 5.
The 14yo wants nothing to do with it and 5yo can't sit still long enough. I may wait another year for her.
The 15yo just wants to be with, and helping Dad.

That's awesome. If I had a box blind that would be helpful for the 5yo but out in the open is different for her little busy body.
