I have hunted ducks a few times and enjoyed it but i want to experience the hunt with a dog and decoys and whatever else. It will be me and my son. Oh by the way I dont want to pay. Im just west of the metroplex.

Thats what i was doing i wanted to see the replies first. But yes i have the land and its loaded with ducks. I have been maybe 5 times over many years but last year i really got interested. I want to learn and im really interested in getting several mounted. When we had quail my uncles would take me with there dogs and when they werent available i would just go by myself. I realized as i got older the dogs working was the fun part so i really hope its the same with duck hunting.

Last year i told my son i would get the first ducks we killed mounted. His was a green wing teal mine was some ugly black duck but a little later the same day i killed a wood duck. I got his mounted and my wood duck took the place of my first one.

Not too many people are willing to just take two random strangers duck hunting in their spots much less if they don't bring anything to the table. Not really sure what the angle on not including that you wanted to hunt your own land was.... definitely came off as a bit douchy

It must be getting close...

Several pms so heres some answers. The place is 260ac with several tanks but only 1 that holds a lot of ducks. The one with the ducks was built to be 11ac but i dont believe it gets that big anymore when full. I cant explain that but something happened. If you drive by midday the tank is full of ducks.I really dont know what kinds but we killed widgeons pintails teals and 1 woodie. The biggest problem i had was we got there early and was swarmed by 100s all at 1 time and then it got real slow but we would leave and drive by later and the tank was full again.

If you were closer I have retrievers for hire.

I am thankful for people willing to help out new waterfowlers. This was me not to long ago. Now I have my own dog , places and equipment
