I've killed more with my .243 than the .270 I've owned longer. They hardly ever take another step after impact.

My wife shoots a 7mm-08 and is quite a shooter with it. I say 7mm-08, 260 rem, 25-06 or 243 win. All proven game reapers.

I've noticed most of us tend to overanalize this maybe because it
involves ladies..I watched a lot of them shoot competition Skeet
for yrs..w/13lb guns tubed and wgt'd...and shoot better than most
men I've ever known...and hundreds of rounds..If size worrys you,
my Dad (Shorty) was 5'2" 115lbs..and he shot a kickin 20ga Mod ll
Rem for 45 yrs 2 to 4 cases of shells a yr..not flats..It never slowed him down..and he came home w/bruised arms and shoulders all the time..Ladies can shoot anything they wish too..my wife has a 45 ACP...not a little one..full sized..Do not underestimate
your spouses..Don

.243 or 7mm/08. both have mild recoil and are proven game getters. I prefer the .243 myself. texas

My wife shoots a .270 WIN
As soon as my daughter hit her teens she gave up her .243 WIN and took mama's gun away from her.

Maybe we should just buy them all of the calibers that we THINK they will use and let them pick, then we will have more for us!

I wouldn't buy her anything until she has a chance to shoot a few and figure out for herself what she can/can't handle. Not sure why the 270 was excluded from the list or 243 for that matter.

depends on the woman, but 243 is great all around in TX

agreed. If all your shots are less than 200 yards you will be fine with any of the calibers. 243 seems to kick a little less if that is what she is worried about

My is is about 5'3" - 105-110 lbs. She shoots a Ruger M-77 youth model .243.

But when I was looking for her, she shot a .308 using 125gr .25-06 and .243. We settled on the .243 because we knew our kids could shoot that rifle at younger ages then the other rifles we looked at.

Depends in the caliber of the woman..

I like my .308. I've shot my hubby's 30-06, and his 7mm mauser, but I like my .308.

Was gonna buy my wife a new rifle until she picked up my t/c encore in 308. She loved it and shot it very well. So not only did i loose an encore but a good leupold vx2! She has dropped two deer with it, both over 100and yds out. She might be 5 foot nothing.
