I have read something about not to use military camo clothing in waterfowl/bird hunting and it's not as effective as proprietary camo available in the market in concealing yourself from keen eyes of the birds. Is this true or just marketing?

Best to blend into the background. Roll with what ya got but keep still. You'll do fine.
Jager is like liquid xanax. Wake up looking like you fell in a tiger exhibit and crawled through a leech filled swamp to get out.

I've been wearing woodlands bdu for over a decade. Works fine.
Got fancy a couple years back and went to multicam.
If you can be still then field tan to dark brown works.
See sig.
Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

I think it really matters more about where you're hunting.. You want to find something that matches the surroundings, not your purse. Lol.

Any camo pattern to break up your pattern/silhouette. Military camo does work, IF the colors are similar to your surroundings. Most people don't wear military camo, because there are so many other choices that help blend us to our environments better. But there are still some old timers I know that still wear it and do just as well.....
That being said, i have killed ducks wearing a white t-shirt, standing in the middle of my decoy spread, on a blue-bird day. A lot of times, as long as you don't move, you're good.

The problem with the old camo is that they arn't the same color as a lake shore or dead grass. You have woodland, that is green/brown/black. Or desert that is tan/light brown. Where I hunt it either dark brown mud and grey drift wood or yellowed grass. No green or tan anywhere.

Ok but unless you are just sitting on the bank and not in a blind I can see camo pattern helping you, but most hunters are hid in some kinda of blind when they hunt. If you were in a ground blind you would need nothing more than your head camo up, and most camo hats have some bright colored logo on them. Earth tone is all you really need. Even in the timber a Filson jacket melts in better than Max 4 or duckblind or shadowgrass or what ever the latest camo fad is.

I made a little blind out of reed mats. Coming across the water, all they see is grass, but if they circle behind or overhead, they can see me. I use a 3D camo "leaf suit" jacket and facemask to break up my outline. Still, not moving is the most important thing.

Is this true or just marketing? First year to duck hunting, let me guess "Duck Dynasty?" You should know that you have to shoot Benelli Shotguns with BlackCloud #3 shells and wear commander endorsed camo. If you don't do all the above you can forget about killing ducks.
