I want to know what scope you guys would recommend for a 300 Blackout AR. Most of the tactical scopes I see are calibrated for a 17, 22 or 223.
Not looking to spend a fortune but want a scope good for deer and pigs.

And EOTech would work prettly good, but I'd have to say that the best option is a compact 1-4 with a mil-dot. Only because the mil-dot is not ballistically calibrated for anything specific. Leupold makes a special .300 AAC reticle now. http://swfa.com/Leupold-15-5x20-Mark-4-MRT-30mm-Riflescope-P52987.aspxBut again, I'd have to say use a mil-dot. The AAC has a lot of drop.

I love iron sights but as my eyes get older, a scope seems to work better for me. I've tried quite a few different scopes on various 300BOs including: 6x illuminated MilDot, 3-12 illuminated MilDot, 4-16 target scope and am messing with a 3-9 right now. The 3-9 seems just about right since I can dial it down for close shots and have 9x when I want to shoot 100 plus. In addition to the 3-9. I have a set of Dueck Defense offset irons for really up close and personal...
You need to decide how far most of your shots are and go from there. Like I said, my eyes ain't what they used to be so I'm leaning towards more magnification.
If you plan to get a varmint/hog light, get a scope that sucks in as much light as possible to help those nighttime shots!

Leupold VXII 3-9x50, great in low light and magnification adjustment will fit most hunting scenarios based on 300 BO range

John are you planning to spot and stalk or are you going to to be shooting at distances great than 75 yards?

I've got a 3-9x40 in one piece mount but thinking about switching to Eotech. With 300blk, I think Eotech is good enough since you're not going to be shooting long distances.

New .300 AAC Blackout reticle for the 4x32 BROWE Combat Optic available in A-TACS AU Camo. Browe-Inc., manufacturer of premium quality optical systems for military, law enforcement, hunting and the shooting sports, introduces the latest reticle pattern for the 4x32 BROWE Combat Optic (BCO), the horseshoe and Dot for the AAC .300 Blackout. The unit is available in A-TACS AU Camo, tan or black. The 4x32 BCO AAC .300 Blackout reticle is based on the popular horseshoe and dot style reticle and provides a bullet drop compensated (BDC) reticle for both the subsonic and supersonic ammunition. The 7 MOA horseshoe has a 5 MOA inner dimension and provides an illuminated 2 MOA wide ring for quick target acquisition. The center 1 MOA dot gives the operator that precision shot and was designed to be zeroed at 100m with the supersonic round or 25m with the subsonic round. For long range precision, the 4x32 BCO AAC .300 Blackout reticle features a BDC reticle that ranges out to 900m for the supersonic and out to 400m for the subsonic. The horizontal stadia lines represent 19" at the indicated ranges. The reticle also offers a horizontal mil scale that has an overall length of 30 mils, with indicators every 5 mil. Dot Color options: The 4x32 BCO AAC .300 blackout reticle is available in four color options including amber, blue, green, or red. As standard with all the 4x32 BCO's the illumination is controlled automatically with the BCO Target Light Sensor Technology. The target light transmission is measured and automatically adjusts the reticle to the proper illumination level. The 4x32 BCO also features a manual override if a consistent light level is required. For more information on BROWE's new 4X32 Combact Optic for the hunting, shooting, military and law enforcement markets, contact BROWE, Inc. at (800) 407-3150 or visit www.browe-inc.com.

If you are shooting subsonic, scopes with a 22lr BDC should be fairly close. Data for a 220 SMK at 1,050 fps with a 50 yard zero: 100=-7.6" 150=-23.7" 200=-48.4'
The data for a 40 grain 22 at 1,200 fps with a 50 yard zero: 100=-7.2 150=-23.5 200=-50.7 That said, might want to look at the Nikon P-22 2-7x
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I am running one of the Super Sniper 3-9 FFP scopes in mils with mil dot reticle. Once you know your zero for supersonic and subsonic rounds, it's easy to switch back and forth to the other using the turrets. I like the ability to dial elevation into my scope, especially for the subsonic round, since it drops so much. You can get them for about $400 to $500 on the SWFA website.
