I just acquired a deer lease close to Cisco and was wondering if there are any good places to eat (besides the usual fast food). Any ideas??? What about a feed store? Thanks all!!!!!

Thorntons is the feedstore in Town, friendly people but sometimes it is cheaper to drive to Carbon.

Several places to eat in Cisco and surrounding areas.

2 Mexican places, one on 6 close to the light, is better at Lunch and Dinner than the one on 20 Service road which has a good breakfast.

Chicken Express is about to open on 20 next to the new Allsups

Lindas on 183 just a couple blocks off 6 headed toward Breckenridge is good.

Bobwire on 6 is also not bad

Also have Subway, Sonic, Pizza place, DQ. If there during the week the Civic Center is not a bad place for a bite and has Starbucks Coffee location.

17 miles North on 6 is Moran and there is a Pizza place downtown that is the best Pizza I have had in Texas. It is New York style owned by a couple that moved there from New York.

Putnam to the west on 20 has one good resuturant and is closest place in that direction for Beer. Moran also sells beer.

Eastland also has ok food, BBQ, Itilian, Chinese Buffet, Mexican plus more fast food

And of course Cisco has 2 Allsups, both of which have the standard eats.

Eating out in Cisco is the pits. La Finca or whatever it is called this week opened good but is not-so good now. I gave up on it months ago but my daughter tried it again a couple of weeks ago. I will not go into the details but those were three days of her life that are gone forever. Bobwire on I20 had a bathroom(?) fire a few days ago and is closed. There is a great mexican food place on the east side of Eastland on the north access road. The sign from the previous owner is faded bad and you have to look for the place but it is good food. Don't get confused and go to the one on the south access road. You will be disappointed.

The Little Put Cafe in Putnam has good HB and CFS. It is a one-man band and service can be a bit slow but good food. Watch for it just as you get of the Putnam exit on I20W. Next door to the Red Barn Liquor/Beer. Slow down as you exit or you will blow right by it.

Rico's (mexican food)in Eastland- take the eastland exit (from I-20) and it is on the N. side of town on the right. Seems to me to always pretty good food- stop there 3-4X's a year, heading out to West TX......

Forgot about the BBQ place on HY-6 a couple blocks south of Thorntons Feed Mill. Good food. He does ribs one day of the week. Think maybe Thursday?

Wow - great info. I tried a place in downtown Cisco (hole in the wall). Forgot the name, but had delicious fried chicken sandwich.

The pizza place sounds intriguing kmon. I love New York pizza. Thanks again all for the info

Its a bit of a drive from cisco (maybe 35 miles), but Mary's in Strawn is outstanding!

I am in Cisco a lot, and we usually just grab some sonic if we are in a hurry, or make the trek to Mary's if we are not.

Linda's is a hit and miss kind of place. One day the food will be good and the service bad, and the next day the food will be awful but the service outstanding.

Kinda like the Mexican buffet next to the Alsups. Just be there at lunch sharp. That buffet doesnt do too well once it sits till 1'ish.

Hope you guys don't mind if I reminisce for a minute cause this place is long since gone. But in Cisco there used to be a place called Oscar's Pit Barbecue owned by a very tall soft spoken black man. My parents used to take me in there a lot in the 60's and 70's. Oscar used to be the personal chef for Gen. Dwight Eisenhower during WWII and he always had the best barbecue you ever tasted in your life.

Oscar's son was on the Cisco HS football team. It was worth the price of the ticket just to watch Oscar's wife during the game. It would be a massive understatement to say that she was enthusiastic. No one ever accused her of being soft spoken. It was a fun time!!!

Thortons is way high on feed prices. The big hardware store on the road between Cisco and Eastland same as Rusk deer plant has corn more reasonable. We have started driving to Gormans feed mill to pick up feed. about 20 miles south on six. The Mexican joint at the red light before Lindas is ok. Hope that helps good luck.

Dont tell me you shot the 4 point for the meat when there are does all around.

I hunted in Moran a few years back. Worth the drive to head up to Albany. If you want to splurge, you can go to the Beehive for steaks, but they also have the Ice House and I think there's a big gas station about 5 miles headed toward Breckenridge that has good burgers. Also, so good breakfast places headed up that way. The Moran store also serves up breakfast and burgers.

The Mexican restaurant in Eastland on the north I20 service road is called La Familia. It is pretty good. The one on the Southside of I20 service road is Pulidos. I have not eaten there so I can't say how that one is. And another +1 for Marys in Strawn! They have some of the best chicken fried steak. I've been eating there for atleast 25 years.

I think Mary's opened in 1989. It was new when I was sophomore in High School. You're not too far off with the 25 year estimate.

I know it was sexual assault wasn't 100% positive if it was a boy or girl but 99% sure it was a male. It's been a while ago.
When something like that happens to someone you thought you knew very well I guess I just tried to block it out as the OP posted we were there a lot and knew him very well.
