Hey guy! I'm thinking about taking the fiancée on a vacation in a few weeks. I would like a little place to ourselves where we won't be too bothered but that has more than a bunked and a burlap sack for a blanket. I wouldn't want to travel all over the globe (though she is worth it). Where is your favorite getaway that you would recommend?

Lodge at Lake Moraine, in the valley of ten peaks in Alberta Canada, is a nice getaway. Nice getaway not far from the columbia ice fields highway, several other Glacial lakes in the area.

Travel the world enjoyed these as well
Southern coast of Australia, bed and breakfast near the 12 Apostiles.
Brisbane Australia and northward. GREAT BARRIER REEF

Beavers bend is pretty cool. School just got back session so no matter where you go y'all shouldn't have to much tourist traffic. Garden of the gods in Colorado is sweet too.

OMG, this is the best slumber party ever!

Colorado and Canada are definantly out of reach for now. I will look at beavers bend, I've heard a lot about it.

If you live around the metroplex I might have a spot for ya'll. Just outside of Paluxy is a place called The Hideaway Ranch. If you run the words together and add dot(.) com you will find their homepage. I believe they have 10 cabins and the people are pretty nice people.

There are all kinds of getaways, some are cabins, b&b's, hotels. We try to find haunted hotels to spend the night at. Our neighbors just got back from the treehouses in Arkansas, those are pretty awesome but a long waiting list.

Hideaway Ranch is awesome. We rented this cabin for our anniversary:

The view from the deck is nothing short of amazing and the folks are great.

Awesome place we stayed in Twin Bridges, Montana... all the conveniences of home, yet very secluded out in the country and great fishing

or if looking for unique, this place was one of a kind in Farmington, NM and very secluded...

I've taken the wife to Cloudcroft, NM. We rented a cabin for a long weekend and had a blast. It's in some of the best elk habitat around, and you can go drive around the area with binos looking for elk and mulies. Cloudcroft is a neat little town and the local grocery store has amazing homemade bread.

If you want to have a nice time to yourselves, one of the places (and it's in Texas) that my wife and I enjoyed a lot was the Olympia Hotel in Fort Davis. Get the big downstairs room with kitchenette and the 4 poster bed. Nice restaurant is just a very short walk away. My wife and I, in the last 18 months or so, have been to Ireland, Alaska (on a cruise), San Francisco, the Napa and Sonoma Valleys (for wine), Fredericksburg (for wine), and drove the Big Bend of Texas. And most recent was Taos, Santa Fe, and Angel Fire. All were fun, but I know that we really enjoyed the few days and nights in Fort Davis and we also really enjoyed a few days in the town of Sonoma, California. Stayed in a hotel on the square and took the wine trolley. There was more to do around Sonoma, but Fort Davis was quieter and more peaceful. I guess you can tell that we drink a lot of wine. And I should mention that the Ireland tour was fabulous. We loved it, but you may not want to be gone that long or spend that much money. That trip was our retirement gift to ourselves.
