5x5 is a nice stand size especially for one person. If you do the math, you actually get more square feet out of that than a 4x6. One of the problems is buying the material, which normally comes in 4x8 sheets, unless that is you go metal and can get it in that size.

just buy one extra sheet and cut a foot off of it for each wall you will have a seem but put a 2x4 on the inside and caulk it good to go.

Look at my posts titled Great Blind Design. You can see how the 2x2s are used for "bracing" you asked about. I use the same basic layout for a 5x5, but I usually talk guys out of that size. If you want it square, go to 6x6. The comment earlier is correct, technically a 5x5 is one square foot larger, BUT... The 4x6 is more practical if you ever plan to have two people in the stand. I would only recommend a 5x5 if it's a blind for one large person. Hope that helps.

I don't have any plans but all my boxes are 5 x 5 and it is the best size for one person. Downside is more expensive due to extra lumber and waste. However is you get some graph paper you can come up with plans to make waste as minimal as poSsible. I usually make lower walls 34" (whhich is best average height for rifle rest which leaves you a strip of 14" for the upper walls. I generally leave 12" for window openings. This puts height of walls at 60".I build my stands modular so I can put them up myself. Again just takes some added planning.

Blind elvators (at Academy for $80) is only way to go to mount legs to a platform. Use treated 2 x 6 as frame for platform.
