Decided to do some oven jerky and my little helper got involved. This is the best jerky I've ever made and i haven't even had any yet!

That's funny Tx, I'll send you a teaser sample. Yeah 300, I've heard lots of people talk about how fast it goes so when i'm not working I try to spend some time with the little one. I heard the oven door slam at 6:00 this morning, went into her room and she was "Hiding" under the covers chompin on some of her jerky. Fried Axis last night for dinner and decided to pull an extra package out for jerky, sure glad I did.

How do you make yours ???? I can make anything but jerky for some reason lol my snack sticks are good but I love jerky, Please share if you dont mind.

is that a serious question english? Heck BBD, I'm definitely no expert. I just use Axis ham or whitetail Ham, if I'm out of deer meat I get a piece of round roast from the store....cut it in thin slices, beat it with a meat mallet, put it over my oven grate, sprinkle it with seasoning....I use chili powder, salt, tony's, red pepper, garlic etc....turn the oven on to the lowest setting, ( on my oven its 170 so I stick a towel in the door to leave it cracked a little bit to try and get the temp down to 150 or so) cook it all night, 7-10 hrs depending on the thickness. They have some good seasoning for this at the store if you don't want to wing it. My way is pretty low tech. red neck but usually i don't have time to sit by my smoker all day and I don't have a dehydrator so I just make do.

What is jerky and how do you make it ? basically jerky is meat that has been cured using smoke and low heat for extnded periods of time. most cut it thin to lower the amount of time it has to cure for. others use a brine solution it was a way for travelers and settlers back in the olden times to carry meat without risk of spoiling. now, in america, it is mainly used as a snack food
