Has anyone hunted or currently hunt around Quanah. I went and looked at a place north of Goodlett, it's about 3-4 miles from the river. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

Yes I have. If your place has water and they have been feeding during the summer you should see deer. Might even see the occasional mule deer depending on terrain and proximity to wheat.

Thanks HOF, I saw several deer which surprised me because it was so hot. Were the quality of the bucks good?

They can be. When you get the place give me an invite during deer season and I'll help show you how to spot them. grin

Thanks there are several tanks on the place and the rancher said he plants wheat in 4 or 5 different fields. He said just depends on the rain.

The big 8 pt, 165", I posted a while back I shot him in Hardeman county. I have seen many good bucks on the river there. I was actually hunting north of Chillicothe on the River. There are many ranches there that are great, and like anywhere else, some that are overhunted and not so great. Just have to do your homework and find out what condition your place will be in. As far as the area though, it has been good for me in the past...

X2. Good to great deer at times but a lot depends on what your neighbors are shooting. Some places are big enough though that neighbors shooting 130" 3.5yr old deer don't matter so much.

It can be a great area. Been hunting north of quahna on the river for the past few years. Lots of quality deer. Shot a 142" 10pt 2 years ago and have seen much larger deer.

The Buck I shot last year was 146" gross and I know there are bigger bucks out there. Plenty of rain this year and have got pictures of fawns this year. You will do good be patient because there are big deer there.
