What model metal detector do you use to check for hidden shot. The wife bit down on a bb last year and dented a crown on her tooth. Now she is paranoid. I told her if she had done a better job cleaning our birds this wouldn't have happenned.
So, what detector do you use?

I use one of those old Stud Finders with the rotating magnet in it.

Need to always be careful for bird shot. Steel shot is worse than lead. Never heard of anyone messing with a metal detector. But here is what I do, and rarely do I end up with pellets in my meat. Inspect the meat carefully, if the breast has pellet holes in it, make sure the holes are cleaned out good, you want to do this anyway to clean out the blood clots. Blood clots in your meat will give meat a foul taste. If you leave the meat on the bone, and you see a pellet hole in the breast, inspect that is went all the way through. If you want to really be careful, cut the meat off the bone. Any pellet holes, you should be able to check that the hole goes all the way through the meat, if not get the pellet out washing water through it with your fingers. All game meat should be cleaned well, washing blood clout out, feathers that might have pushed into the meat from the pellets, and getting the pellets out themselves. I good cleaning will solve your problem, and taste better.

Just remove the meat from the breast bone that makes it easy to find any shot.
