so I have a diemma. Been waiting months to goto the lease and get ready for season. Ready to go tomorrow only to realize I cannot locate my camper keys. Question. How easy will it be to get past the lock on my camper until I can haul it back and have a lock smith look at. I figured somone has had to do this in the past. Is there an easy way to get in it without messing up the lock / door?

Thanks

We got locked out last year, were able to get in through a window. Had to unscrew the hinges and cut the silicon holding the window in place and then crawl through. It wasn't terribly hard, the hardest part was finding a window that we could take off from the outside in the dark.

If you have under storage, you can usually go in there an pop up under a bed.

If it's an older trailer the windows were screwed into place from the outside. Remove the molding and unscrew the window, put down new putty tape when reinstalling. If it's a newer model you have a problem....most of those windows are 2 piece with an inside and outside which screw together from the inside.

Might consider drilling out the lock cylinders....a new latch assembly is not that expensive if you can't find cylinders to fit....

i had to replace the lock on ours last year after my son broke the only key we had off in it. Cost me about $35 bucks for the lock assembly and took 10 mins to change out

Fyi if its just the door latch and not dead bolt. Swing by a rv dealer next time with the camper. Most delers have a universal key to open the door latch.

Also a lot of the keys match for campers so try some other camper keys. Found out that three other campers on a camping trip had keys that would open my storage boxes.

clap Now that you found them make you an extra set and hide them at the lease. Good luck.

When I had my lock smith come by to make new keys for mine this year, he had a few already made for the storage. He told me that most all campers have the same key for the storage. He even told me the number of key, but I forgot now.

All outside storage bins have the same 751 key. If you have anything valuable in your storage bins you should keep it inside. Basically anybody can open anybodies outside storage so be careful.

Since I'm so absent minded I always have a spare, along with other key spares in one spot here at the house. I hate the frustration of looking for something at the last minute.

Go look at the number on your storage key. H751 fits most all of the under 50,000 5ths and campers.

You'd be surprised how many rv's use the same key for entry & storage areas. I have a supplemental dead bolt on mine & spare keys hidden somewhere on the lease.
