Last year like many of you, I had almost 0 acorns due to the extreme drought. This year appears to be much different. With the good rains we received throughout the Spring and (compared to last year) the milder summer, I have Oaks loaded with small acorns, not every tree, but a very large percentage.

Our area (SW Wise Co.)is again listed in the severe drought zone, but I am hoping the acorns are far enough along to produce and at this point it appears like a bumper crop. Hopefully the deer will get the benefit this year since last year you could buy an acorn.

Also hoping this may help supplement the corn feeder and possibly keep some of that cost down. Indecently, my deer have been steady on the 18% protein. Prior to last summer, I had poor results getting the deer to feed on pellets, but after the drought, they take all I put out.

Sorry for rambling, just wanted to pass on an observation about the acorns.

Live Oaks in Blanco County do not have a ton of acorns, takes several years of rain to make a difference.

Our Liveoaks and Spanish oaks are loaded up with acorns. This will inhibit sightings at our place until after the freeze. I do have a "special" place though that is covered in Spanish oak,and it just happens to have a stand there.

our acorns started out great, but with little rain the last 2 months, they are on the small side and some have already burned up and dropped.

At our place in Lavaca co. the live oaks were pretty barren, think I found more yellow jackets than acorns on the two live oaks I checked, but didnt pay much attention to the other oaks. Stx, I did a mix with the roasted soybeans, anxious to see the results on my trail cams.

Most of the acorns I have seen so far, are on what I would call "post oaks", I haven't made it up the hill to check the Live Oaks yet. The acorns I have are small, but they usually aren't that big any way compared to like White oaks in say Oklahoma. Either way the deer like them, so I hope they finish out OK.

Nice photos, I will have to walk up the hill and check my Live Oaks. since yesterday at 5pm it has rain pretty much non-stop, over 4-1/4" so far in the rain gauge. This should help the acorn crop (and other vegetation), to continue.

The last 4 weeks, I have received over 8-1/2" of rain, almost looks like Spring!! The trees with acorns have really started finishing off, acorns so far look to be in great shape here.

Acorn crop is excellent in Northeast Texas. Will make it tough on feeder hunters, but if you can hunt the heavy acorn areas you should do well. Nothing better to hunt over than this deer "prime rib". They definitely love them!

S,eems like after the last rain a couple days ago was all mine needed to finish, they are starting to fall good now. Was at the golf cours in Lipan Texas this morning, we saw a doe and 2 fawns, went over to see what the draw was... Acorns (live oak)

Might make it a little hard to get to my ladder stand...... It is on a large old oak.
