Just got back from the ranch in South Central Oklahoma and the post oaks are growing some nice acorns. We got a rain a few days ago and they grew a bunch. Most of my trees are full of them. I got a feeling that once they start dropping, the deer are going to disappear from the feeders.

Here is a pic of some I picked from the tree:

Gonna make you hunt for them deer. grin I have found 1 tree with 10 acorns so far. I hope they don't all fall the same day.

I've got a backyard full of them things and some happy squirrels. I feel my hog issue is fixing to go away when they start dropping further North of here.

I hope you are right. Got a feeling the hunting's not gonna be like last year when they were scrounging -but that's fine with me.

Yeah, I can see some empty feeder pens this season. I can't see some of these smart old does standing in the open to eat corn with all of the acorns that are going to be all over the ground.

Acorns at the house are full and plump, but the ones or by Jacksboro are pretty puny, more cap than acorn. Probably why they went through 1500 lbs of protein in 6 weeks, nothing was growing, this rain has greened up everything so maybe the acorns will put on a late growth spurt.
