i read the V Max tends to blow up with little penetration on bigger animals. i dont have first hand experience, so i would really like to know how they do on hogs. report back if you have any luck.

Not sure why I posted V-Max. Guess it is because everyone asks about them so it was on my mind. LOL

My stainless 1/8 24" 5R Wylde 223 loves them. Use metal mags so you can get a little longer OAL. Find your metal mag with the longest inside measurements and load to just clear but load a couple and push them down with regular shorter rounds to make sure they clear all the way to the bottom. Also make sure to bump the back of the mag after you load it up to push the ammo to the back. I had to shorten them too much to fit PMags. Mine easily shoots sub 1/2 MOA at 100 yards with them.
The A-Max is more of a match type bullet so it won't expand much. You may need to check your POI as it has probably moved. They are accurate as anything if your gun will shoot them so you can do remote highspeed precision lobotomies on piggies at range... I'm looking for some 77gr OTMBTs to play with as those should be a brain bomb.

I shot a 175# sow with a 75gr and she went straight down. Not sure how it would hold up on the bigger hogs, but I wouldn't hesitate to shoot an average size porker with one. Only problem I had was having to seat the bullet so deep to fit in the AR15 magazine. I backed off on the charge to compensate. Never loaded any more of them. I think they are best suited for non-autoloading rifles.
Life's too short to share it with a crappy knife!

I've used them and they have worked fine on pigs. Expensive though.

I got the AR sighted in with the load I did. At 200 yards they almost touch on 5 shots. I am happy with the grouping. Taking out to a new property that is claiming the hogs are a problem and want them all dropped. We will see if that is the case. At least it aint costing me anything to go out and have fun ether way.
