What do y'all use for flea control? I use Frontline on the dogs and cat. I spray the yard with I think it's an Ortho product? It's in a red bottle. But we still have fleas real bad . Anyone have good luck with anything else??? The neighbor has like 20 cats and doesn't treat or spray so I am pretty dang positive they are coming from there.

I have professionals treat my yard and I use Advantix (the one that kills mosquitos too).

They come out every three months. If I have a problem between treatings they come back out for free.

unfortunetly if your neighbors dont do anything about it you are going to have a problem. We were kinda in same boat and had 3 different companies come out and they all said they will just continue to ome from neighbors yards and animals. We got alot of our neighbors to spray and company gave us a huge discount because he came and did about 9 houses and once.

If you need to save some$$ try BIO-SPOT. You can get it at most feed stores. It contains the same ingredients as Frontline but is about $20.00 for a 3 month supply. I use it on my dawgs and it works great. If your neighbor needs help controlling their fleas, get the ortho spray you attach to the garden hose and do a late night stealth spray.

From what I know everyone that has animals around here sprays except for the cat woman. And everyone complains about the cat woman and the fleas and the cats in general. I'll see if she'll listen to me but I doubt it. She's one of them that thinks nothing is her fault.

LOL I have done that a time or 2. I'll soak down the shed the cats sleep under cause it's next to my fence and my sprayer will get almost half her yard. I'd really prefer shooting the cats, but that's a whole nother topic there.

Can you put Frontline plus on her cats? Fleas like animals better than us and attach to and eat blood from. Frontline on the cat is kind of like baiting fleas. I was told by a Frontline rep that if you put Frontline Plus on once a month for three months it will get rid of the flea problem. The reason you do it every month for three months is because of the eggs/hatching---(and this would be the part I started daydreaming in the conversation), but we are currently almost at zero fleas in the yard with our cat because of this. The second the flea crawls on the cat, the flea has only 24 hours to live with Frontline Plus because the Frontline transfers through the fat cells throughout the entire body of the pet, another bit of Rep info.

If you have a Lesco around you, then pick up some Top Choice one treatment a year, Its not labeled for Fleas or ticks but it works, treat my yard every year with it and its bug free no ticks, fleas or ants! And neighbors dont treat at all

frontline on the dog, and nematodes (sp) in the yard. Don't have any skeeter issues, and its safe for the kids.
If its that bad, throw some diametrious (sp) earth out there as well, that will take out the fleas and ticks as well...great stuff, and organic

Where do you get your nematodes TB? Read a little about it and that sounds pretty good.

I get them from a local nursery, they breed, and spread..cost about $22 or so for 1k I think. Easy to put out, and like I said, reproduce...we don't have skeeter, but lots of frogs...

yall all have missed it. we had a lot of cats in the neighborhood. a neighbor got a live trap from the city and started trapping cats. caught 27. the city picked them up. but i dont know what kind of relationship your neighbor has with the animal control. but as long as they are in your yard, you have a right to trap them. less cats, less fleas. period.
thats what im talking about!

I use permethrin. You can get it at a feed store and it runs about ten bucks for a large bottle of concentrate. Made for horses and dogs, and one bottle will last forever -- you can also mix it stronger and make it into a dip if the problem is real bad. Otherwise mix a half-teaspoon with water in a 24 ounce spray bottle and treat every four weeks. I've had excellent results with it so far, but then again I don't live next to a cat farm!

You should have seen it about 3 or 4 years ago. There were seriously 50 or more cats out in her backyard. She moved a good portion inside, and I guess the rest spread out or died off but it's still a freaking mess. I live to the north of her so most everyday you get a good whiff of cat pi$$. I think the biggest problem is they(the fleas) seem to have become resistant to the chemicals I have used. I always tried to mix it up each time so they wouldn't build up a resistance to it. But that seems to not have worked as good as I had hoped. We are going to try out the nematodes. That looks to be the best option right now.

Guess I could read up on that too. Probably wouldn't hurt any.
