Man, I am so ready to get into the woods, fill feeders, set up cameras, and hunt something. Our lease has been sold and so we are finding out tomorrow if we are going to be able to hunt that land from the new land owner. I am not holding my breath but my FIL and BIL have higher hopes than me. Till then I am in limbo. Good news is, I have some family land that I can hunt on. Bad news is, Im not sure the quantity or quality of the deer on it. Plus right now, the entire family gets to hunt together on the same lease. I guess we will see....

Hope it works out for you!!! Sucks to have changes this close to the season, but at least you have a couple of options if it falls through. Good luck up

I gave up my lease this year due to not knowing how much time I would have to hunt this season. (My daughter is trying to be a movie star and will be in LA and NYC a lot this season) Decided I would just go on a couple paid hunts and see what happens. Found out in late July, that my father in law got us Sole hunting rights on three different properties around Abilene. 1300, 600, and 400 acres. Just need to get stands and feeders set up this weekend. So......yes I'm ready for the season to get here.

this time of year, its so hot, I don't really think about it.

till i look into the sky and see flocks of whitewings over my head.

I'm trying not to think about it. most years around the 3rd week in august I can't stand it any longer

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I find that I have trouble thinking of anything else. In my mind I have an overhead photograph of my deer property and all I do is run through different scenarios, stand locations, feeder locations, etc. I spend hours looking at game cam photos. I am also thinking about where to set up on my dove lease on opening day, that's another overhead photo in my head.

It is comforting to know that there are others out there suffering from the same disease. grin grin

Maybe a support group is in order.......wait, that's what THF is.

Yep, shotguns are cleaned and got plenty of shells ready for September 1. I can taste the bacon-wrapped dove breasts now....
