Try Tractor Supply or a feed store. If Academy has them in stock it will be the cheapest but they are hit and miss.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

What kind of traps? Academy has cheap live traps. $38 I think.

It'd be cool if they had one that'd blow 'em up when they set foot near it, but I'm looking for an affordable one!!

In that case, try academy and go with live traps. That way you know what you get.

Check the live traps out before you buy them...Tractor Supply was running a special on 2 traps for $29.00 and they were the flimsiest made live traps I've ever seen. A medium size coon would have a good time in there and if caught early, he/she might not be in there come daylight.

You might want to try their heavier made live traps or check out RP Outdoors in Mansfield, LA. http://www.rpoutdoors.com/

Havaheart Live Traps have always worked for me, i was catching 1-3 animals a week (Coons, Armadillos, Possums, Cats). Put some applesauce and peanut butter and cereal and they will be all over it. I think the traps cost 30 bucks

I don't live in Dallas...... Amen

Not sure the quality, but I saw some at Harbor Freight the other day pretty cheap.

If you're serious about trapping coons you can forget about the Harbor Freight traps; They're good at catching 'em and miserable at keeping 'em. A coon can force its way out of the trap (don't ask me how I know this.) I bought a couple of heavy-duty homemade traps off of eBay and they work incredibly well. Bait 'em with sardines. So far in 2008, trapping part-time, I've used 3 traps to catch 12 coons, 4 possums, and three small feral hogs.
