I was doing a bit of research on this winters weather and found this article. sounds like it would be good for the ducks...but bad for the farmers.

The farmers around me put a lot of stock in the NOAA 90 day forecast.
October through December is calling for very wet weather.
Reporting average winter temps through February (not like last winter).

Could be interesting.

Could somebody tell me what normal temps are? Don't think Texas has normal temps. They change all the time.

Nothing better than a cold morning ice everywhere you can here the whistle of ice snow or sleet falling and being the only open hole in the ice for them to land cause everyone else stayed in bed.

Good times.

noneof them have a clue what the weather is gonna do. i wouldn't put stock in any of them..especially anything that acccwrong has to say. that site is the worst and is wrong 99% of the time with their forecasts.

I'll disagree with you on the last part. My weather app on my phone is wrong 100% of the time. I swear every time I look up the weather to see if it will rain or not it says rain will happen and gives the hours at which it should. The sun shines and it turns out to be 100 degrees every day.

Yep until you get about 3 days in a row of it and the ducks move out.

I put stock in what the "old timers" have to say. So far most of them tell me it will be colder than normal around here. With that I am preparing for cooler weather during duck season.

I'm looking forward to the day that I reach that magical age that I can accurately predict the weather.

I just called my old man and he qualifies as an old timer, rancher, and farmer.

I asked him what this winter would be like and he told me it will more than likely be cold, probably wet, and we should get a few freezes, maybe one hard freeze in January, possibly some snow in Jan, Feb, or maybe even March.

I asked him how he knew that and he said "well hell boy, that's what happens in winter"
