Anyone use the .300 blackout for hog hunting? What's the best load for taking them down?

I reload but have used the barnes blacktip, hornady 110 SP handloads, 300 whipser 110vmax from hornady and atlanta arms 125 gr nosler balistic tips. The vmax was no good. The barnes seem to do well and you can order them online but not cheap. My hornady handloads have killed two hogs but still testing. The nosler green tips did alot of damage but not much for blood trailing. I would look up chad on here who reloads for the blackout and see what he has to offer. I am happy so far with my setup but still testing bullets. I am sure you have checked out the 300blktalk forum. They have alot of good info.

I found the UMC CTFB 115 to perform very well in my 16in CMMG rifle, better than more expensive Hornady rounds.
daniel1381, Did you kill some hogs with this round?

Thanks! I've hit up Chad and thinking about trying out some of his 125gr Noslers. Taking the .300 out for the first time the second week in Oct. so I'm trying to figure out what'll work best on em. Thanks again.

Are you planning to go subsonic and put a suppressor on it at all?

It all depends on the distance. If you're shooting close range and are suppressed, go with the heaviest bullet you can push just below the speed of sound. If not suppressed, speed kills. Just find a bullet that holds together for the larger animals.
Life's too short to share it with a crappy knife!

I'm going unsuppressed for this first hunt. Probably ending up using 125gr Nosler BT. Hopefully they'll give me enough penetration and mushrooming to drop 'em in their tracks.

THe vmax dropped a small 60 lb hogs but he got right back up and hauled butt. No blood anywhere and looked down every trail never found him. Im sure he died somewhere but I couldnt find him. I have swithed to 110 SP hornady reloads killed one so far with this combo but need further testing.

Ended up hunting with the 125gr Nosler BT's and they worked out well. I personally didn't get anything but my friend dropped a 150lb'er with a neck shot using the same rounds out of his 300blk.

I use Atlanta Arms 125 gr Nosler ballistic or Barnes 110 gr black tip.
In Feb I dropped two hogs with one shot from 40 yards with the Nosler.
The longest shot I've taken was about 150 yards with the Barnes black tip and the hog dropped.
Another hog shot at 40 yards with the black tip, blew out the left shoulder but the hog ran and I found it almost 50 yards away.

I'm using 125 Ballistic Tips when stalking and 220 HP when hunting under a feed source. Will post videos when able so you can see results for yourself. I try to neck/head shot all my porkers.
