Do you use the dirt scented wafers our the supposedly unscented ones when you are on stand? I lean towards the dirt scent since it smells like dirt and might provide a moments confusion for them while i launch an arrow. What do you guys think?

Not a fan of thermacell. If i can smell it im sure the deer can and after gettin busted a couple of times i gave up on it and use a bug suite now.

They haven't busted me yet. I actually use a leaf suit with a mesh base so they don't get me too bad anyway. The other thing i do is use a permetherin spray it's fun to watch them land in clothes with permetherin on it, and die!

hunt the wind use the thermacell earth or not, nothing gets you busted quicker than swatting at skeeters.

I use the unscented wafers. Sometimes I run two if the skeeters are bad. I havent ever had a deer react to them. I get lots of deer in close including very mature bucks. I dont hesitate to use them. I havent tried the dirt scent one and probably wont.

I use the unscented ones. My wife and I have been using them for several years and neither of us has ever been busted because of the smell.

I used a thermacell in Kansas about 4 years ago while hunting inside a pop-up blind. Had a group of deer bust me at about 150 yards. I was tucked inside a spot on the edge of the field where the deer travel and the wind started to swirl a bit and they took off.

it's your smell you have to be worried about not the thermocell. so the answer is you could use a indian corn scented pad but you will still get busted because they'll smell you to.

I agree BuckRage. I am more mindful of what smells are on me. I killed seven pigs this spring/summer from a ground blind and the pigs never busted me using the Thermocell even though they were less than 25yds away.

Thermacells are fine with me but I'm no "self proclaimed expert on everything".

Same here. Last year was my first year to hunt from a pop up as we dont have trees big enough at the lease for a tree stand. I had deer 4yrds from my stand several times and not one spooked up

I just use the originals, but like already stated here, I've never had a problem with being busted because of therma-cell, but I've been busted plenty because of ME.

I guess I was kind of thinking that the earth scent ones might act as a cover scent and give me that extra second to send an arrow down range.

Been using the original ever since I found out there was such a thing as Thermacell. Hasn't had any effect on the amount of game I see, and never spooked any that I couldn't pin on something else
