Hi, I've had my lab for about 2 years. She's very smart, but I've never trained her. She plays fetch, but she's slow to bring it back. She brings it to my hand but she only walks. Is there something I can do to make her more energetic and bring it back to me in a hurry?

I want to start working with her myself and see if I can't make her a hunting dog?

I would first do ob training with her and then get her excited about retrieving with some live birds. Then do ff with her.

Ok, We're located in Dekalb, TX (East Texas)
I've introduced her to a dead duck one time, and she just wanted to play with it. When we tossed it for her to fetch she picked it up and went and layed down with it. I really need to get her better at really wanting to fetch the toy really well and knowing what to do, dontcha think?

This may sound off the wall but it is what it took for 2 of my labs to flip the switch on. Go to a stock tank or lake away from any distractions and toss their favorite toy in the edge of the water. I may take a couple of times and progressively farther out.

No Darren this is my other girl! She loves to play with toys, she just won't bring them back to me very fast. She'll run as fast as she can to get it and starting at about the 3rd throw, she just walks it back to me. She doesn't have the desire to bring it back to me in a hurry..... My Male on the other hand, He loves to fetch and used to do it really well. But my husband started to play with him while he was working outside and would throw the toy and wouldn't pay attention to him when he brought it back and now he'll go get it and take it where ever he wants to and plays with it.

Carissa, let me know if you want me to look at them for you. I can take a look and let you know what I think. I will have several kennel spots in the next few weeks.

Thanks
