Just an fyi, I was just at Cabelas in Buda and they had 3 sets of discontinued ramline synthetic A-5 stock sets in the bargain cave. 2 after I walked out the door grin
These are going on gunbroker for around 95-100 bucks. With the sale Cabelas has going on right now I walked out the door paying 39 bucks for mine. This is a great deal if anyone wants to replace the wood furniture on there browning. Just thought I would pass along a good deal

I was always told if you were splitting the forearm then you need your friction ring replaced?
Factory wood for the 12ga A5 magnum is expensive.

The only thing stopping me from buying that is a lack of money.

I love those mag stalkers

tough crowd! I just got ahold of a 1960 A-5 magnum and really dont want to crack the wood or mess it up at all. I have a tendancy to break everything I touch if given enough time! I thought bringing up anything A-5 would spark some kind of debate after reading some of the past posts about them here.

I got the maxus over the xplor for the same reason, I alway find a way to trash wood stocks...all my rifles are the same way.

If anyone ever saw how trashed the bluing and stock are on my citori they would beat me.

Amazing isn't it? None of the latest camo, hunting gear, etc.. but they whacked ducks just as good as we do.

No bad days hunting

I aint partial to wood or synthetic. I have several of the A5s all wood. If I had the coin I would have already popped on the A5 in the link posted on this thread.

In the early 80s we would get out of schook and load up in my friend's Suburban with a 454. We would hit I-10 and hammer that sucker to get to the prairie for afternoon hunts. We all had A5s and just flat hammered the birds back then. Waders, 5 gallon bucket to carry shells out there, to sit on and to carry the birds back. I remember the pain in my thumb from trying to load the A5 quickly.

Those are fond memories!

Back then they didn't have camo like today but they where using lead shot which is better. No one needed a 3 1/2" mag in those days because they shot lead. My grandpa shot ducks all his life with an A5 20 guage with hand loads and an IC. But he stopped hunting ducks when they made everyone go to steel shot.

I have one of JB's A5s from the company he worked for when he drew it up. Still solid as a rock. And heavy as one.
