I started to do taxidermy as a hobby to pass the time while I take care of my daughter who has cerebral paulsy. Ive found it to be a good way to be close to the outdoors when I cant leave the house. I've been working more hours than I probably should have been to finish up this mount and base. Dont quite know what to say other than what do you think? Its a Bee county diamondback and a Pecos county javelina. I did everything myself, from catching, feezing, tanning, and mounting of the snake to shooting, caping, tanning, mounting the peccary. Also did the base start to finish alone. I've never done taxidermy professionally and really have no desire to so please be kind with critiques. I learned from trial and error and lots and lots and lots and lots of reading! Its a long way from perfect but its the first mount Ive done that I am trully proud of. enjoy

thank you very much guys! Im really not fishing for compliments, just finally happy with some of my work. my last mount was a coyote that looked like a cartoon character about to get hit by a train. Figured a javelina would be a good thing to practice on. I'm on a mule deer lease by Iraan that has no shortage of them so if I screwed it up I could get another one.

thanks again everyone, TxAg, its a hobby stemming from a wife that throws a fit about me spending so much money on mounts. About the only way to keep the dream alive of more mounts so to speak was to learn it myself! Double that with the fact that I'm home with my daughter quite often, I figured why not give it a try. Back in my college days I was a fine arts major for a while so I finally put that to good use I guess. Next year I'm wanting to shoot an auodad and give it a shot. Saving my pennies for that hunt right now. But once again guys, thanks.
