At the end of June, I set up a cam on my feeder in Duval Co. Within 2 days, a group of 5 does found it and came every night til about July 11th, which is when my battery went dead (another story). I don't know what was going on from mid July to the beginning of August. I did notice in the pictures that a couple of the does looked awfully fat and more than likely ready to give birth. At the beginning of August, I put a travel trailer in place, which happens to be in sight of the feeder with the camera. I fixed the camera battery, set up a water station near to the feeder, and loaded the feeder with soy and corn, so was expecting standing room only dinner reservations. To date, all I'm seeing is well....nothing. Do you think the trailer is scaring them off or could it be due to them having fawns to deal with? There were some wild dogs hanging around the week I was out there, which I didn't get a shot at....maybe it's them? No pigs are using this feeder.

I suspect a combination of the dogs, trailer and possibly the fawns. The trailer they will get used to but not so much the dogs

My game camera stopped taking daytime pictures last year due to it being so hot. But the night time pictures still worked.

Dogs will definitely run the deer off, the trailer they'll get used to over time. And yes, they do get more scarce as they deal with new young'uns.

Dogs will scare them off big time. If your trailer is within 150 yards of direct sight & alot of traffic, that will keep them on edge. If they were hammering your feeder before birthing, they will come back pretty quick if those other two things aren't spooking them away!

The dogs will do it for sure, especially if they have new fawns. Have you been feedin the corn/soy mix or just started it? I ask this, because sometimes it takes them a bit to get used to it. They should still show up and at least eat the corn though.

All ready

No rain at all...dustbowl...I mean Duval Co.

Due to the way my property is laid out (small place only 100ac), my electricity pole and water is within 60 yds of this feeder. I just bought it and have not changed it. Plan on moving either the trailer or the feeder, but it will be easier to move the trailer. The Feeder is one of those 3000lb capacity, all steel jobs that is really heavy. There is no traffic out there and it's very secluded with primo South Texas brush.

Just started with the corn soy mix.

I suspect it's a combination of all the factors. When I'm back out there, I'm going to try and eliminate the dogs and a hog or two....I may call an electrician to run a new electric line and breaker box and relocate the trailer...and run a new water line.

Thanks for your thoughts on this!

Last year I had problems with dogs around my lease and didn't even coons at my feeder the last 3 1/2 weeks of season and I hunted nearly every day!!! The trailer they'll get used to!!! I have deer in my backyard even with fawns, (usually at least a month old though), when we are outside!!! There is a 1 to 2 month period where they don't show when they give birth though!!! The main problem I see is the dogs!!!

You might want to still move the trailer.
Yes they will get used to the trailer but what happens when you start to go out there and they see the vehicle and even see you moving around out there?
I would move it out of sight of the feeder if at all possible since it won't help your chances where it's at. If it were 200 or more yards it wouldn't matter as much, but it's way too close as it is now.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I would sit and watch one evening and morning. I thought my cameras were doing good until I watched some nice bucks and a huge hog. Checked the cameras later and nada. Did have some nice pics but not of the ones I was watching.

It is the same at my place, the young bucks are in groups and keep the feeders cleaned out before the does have a chance.

I'm either gonna move the trailer or the feeder when I go back out there in October. Also gonna invest in a hog trap. Appreciate all the comments guys!

Trailer would be my guess. A couple of shots into the hogs and they will move down the road most likely.
