And want to build an ar from scratch. What would you do and why? Let's stay with normal calibers in the AR15 platform (no crazy wildcat rounds)....

Well if I won the lottery Id buy out Larue and Noveske. Then Id just have my employees make me ARs on demand.
Oh and Id hire some hot women at Larue to keep up with Noveske.

I'd build an M16 and go full auto.
Screw AR-15's

I'd buy a couple guns, but travel would be #1.

that's no problem there. . .
i'd just buy a dozen off-the-shelf of whatever whoever had in stock and use 'em 'till something happened and toss it in the pile and open up a brand-new one.
'oh damn!-this one jammed!" toss "oh damn!-this ones got dirt on it!" toss "dang it!-this ones out of ammo!" toss
repeat as necessary
i'd have the neatest tomato stakes you'd ever seen

And want to build an ar from scratch. What would you do and why? Let's stay with normal calibers in the AR15 platform (no crazy wildcat rounds).... I'd call Scott at Specialized Dynamics or Chuck Ross to put me one together. Why them? Cause I wouldn't know where to start to try to put an AR-15 together. give me one, and I'll make some awesome ammo for it and I can shoot it well. But build one, no way. A 223 is nice and cheap to shoot. But a 300 black out is the most fun caliber I have shot in a long time. It makes me giggle!

Really about all I want these days is a OBR and a decent 14.5'' midlength.
I guess if I won the lottery I'd build up a 6.5 grendel, SPR clone, and get a M16 or DIAS.

Minus the thermal NV I just built the AR that I would have built had I won the lottery.
Now the M-16 I would build if I won the lottery.....

I'm going to try and stay within the rules of the game here. I assume it has to be an AR and not a M16 and a single one. I say this because knowing my woman she wouldn't let me get a bunch of AR's. I too would go to a very reputable AR gunsmith and have them pick out all the parts, spare no expense of course, since I aint too knowledgeable about what is the best. It would be an 18" barrel, some sort of adjustable Magpul stock, with a Daniel Defense quad system running up past the gas block, chambered in a 243, and equiped with a day-night system. I've always wanted an ultimatehoig/predator gun and that would be it for me.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Seems like a logical game to play. My problem is, winning the lottery wouldnt be needed if all youre doing is building a semi auto ar15 you can have the baddest of the bad AR15 for under 3 grand.
How about if i won a scratch off ticket for 3000.00 I would just buy a factory built larue or noveske billet 6.8spcII Both would be excellent rifles and hard to beat out with higher quality.

Sheesh...you guys suck at following rules. Ok...no buildings...no companies...no M16's etc I'm looking for a combination of parts you would use. Lower Upper Trigger Barrel Bcg Stock Etc Ok guys, let's see if you can color within the lines.

I would hire a couple guys to carry AR-15s and wear sunglasses while they followed me on my day to day routine.

I don't know what I would build if I hit the Lotto, I have a nice 300 BLK, and a nice 5.56. Several in "odd" calibers,... what were the rules again? Never mind!

I understand what youre asking, Mine in 223 or 6.8 -Seekins Lower and Upper unsure of the confuguration -Seekins Handguard SPR3 -Magpul STR stock with enchanced pad -Primary Weapons System Buffer Tube -Spikes st2 buffer -Jp Enterprises tuned spring -KNS pins all the way around, unless the trigger provide their own - Young National Match BCG or coated spikes - Barrel would be 17", around 30 oz no more. (The weight of th ARP Scout Profile is perfect) I might go heavier and have if fluted back to this weight for looks - Barrel would be a Krieger or Brux cut rifling preferably with a target crown. 1/8 Twist Wylde, I might go to 18" so I could cut back on the crown if it got damaged. -Trigger- Lightest Geiselle made or a 3# Timney -Ergo Tactical grip - Noveske low pro gas block - Larue optic mounts - Vltor charging handle It would look something similar to this, just a hair different http://www.seekinsprecision.com/complete-rifles-1/sp3g.html

I would just have JP Rifles put together a PSC11 upper with their forged lower. http://www.jprifles.com/1.2.1_PSC_11.php I would top it with an ACOG and be happy. The stock would be the Ace and I would go with the JP Full Mass Operating System.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

Now the M-16 I would build if I won the lottery..... Same here, I just got done building the one minus a shorter barrel and sbr stamp. That will be taken care of tho! Would be nice to have some night vision and thermal to slap in front of my day scopes! And yes a full auto m16 would be lovely

Why not buy a combat tested weapon? Bravo Company. 14.5 inch with Eotech 552. Come to think of it... I have one of those! Now if I just had a MH-6 Little Bird to mount it on...
