I caught 2 turkey and 2 calves in mine before I figgured out how to stop that. Oh and several coons.
I've been thinking about TRYING to catch coyotes in it...

Had 2 traps set a couple years ago. Checked them in the morning and had 1 doe in 1 of them, 2 in the other. The release was very interesting. Seems they did not think I was trying to help them.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

COONS. DOES. 8 POINT. LOL. And i figured out how to release them without totally freaking them out. i have a trap that has a spring loaded door that opens to the side. if you try to release them in the daylight. they totally freak out and get all beat up. i figured out that of i wait until dark and pull my truck right up to the trap. right at the edge of the door. with the bright lights on. i can sneak around and wire the door open. then just back out and leave. they usually just stand in the back of the trap until i leave. then they can get out on their own. without getting all beat up from hitting the trap.

The game warden will frown on catching deer in a hog trap, even by accident! Try running several strands of bailing twine loosly vertically and horizontally across the entrance of your trap... The hogs will still go through, but it deters the deer.

We use a big corral trap with an electronic trip wire. We set up the trap with a feeder inside and put a video camera on the outside. When we checked the video the first few times, all we had was a coon comeing in the trap. A few days later my partner got a text on his phone that the gate had droped and he could see hogs inside the trap. This seemed odd because the tripwire was not set and there was no way for the hogs to trip the gate. The control box for the trip wire is mounted on the wall of the trap and it has a little magnet that sticks to the side of it. when the wire is set, it pulls the magnet off the box and the gate drops. When we got there to look at the video camera the trap was closed with hogs inside. When we played back the video, the coon came to the door of the trap and the hogs were under the feeder and he couldn't get to the corn. So the coon walked around the inside edge of the trap, and climbed the panel to the control box. Then he reached up and pulled the magnet off of the side of the control box and the gate droped. I guess he showed them.

Found a yearling doe in one one year. She had cut herself up very bad. Skin layed over one eye and one side of her neck cut to the bone. Called the game warden and he put her down. He even let us keep the meat. Thats the only time I've had that happen.

Caught a doe once. All deer caught must be released immediately, posting pics of them = bad idea.
I didn't learn this by seeing it on TV, I learned it by doing it.

I've caught coons and turkey. I always imagine the game warden hiding behind a tree when I let the turkey loose, lol.
Life's too short to share it with a crappy knife!

We don't have any hog traps, but my mom's stupid cats keep getting caught in the varmint trap that my folks have.
I'm not sure what I would do if I went to check a trap and saw a gator in it. Other than change my pants.

I've caught calves and deer in the past... now most of my traps are open top so the deer can jump out and I hang a couple limbs in the opening to discourage calves and deer from entering
