We are about finished with Our barn and I had the Guys put in an I-Beam to mount two winches to so I can process game inside the barn with sink, cutting table, ect.. Besides drilling the holes for the bolts, what other types of mounting apparatus are there to get them up there? I looked into doing U bolts but, would have to make a plate to attach the winch to then ten bolt to the beam. Anything easier out there?

We had an old rail system from a butcher shop. Flat bar with brackets bolted to ceiling. Hooks were on rollers. One winch outside and one inside. Could lift a deer with winch and roll him on the rail hook into cooler. Sweet setup.

We put a pipe over a pole with grease fittings and an I beam off that. Then a winch on rollers. It will roll in and out and swing in 360 degrees.

But to make yours easy I don't know.

Yes, a steel I-Beam... I already have the winches. so buying something else is out of the question. To be specific it's a slightly rolled I-Beam not a flat one too. The I-Beam trolleys I have found don't have a plate mount on them, they just have a hook or a loop of sorts. Would take a lot of fabricating to get them to work.

you should check with grainger.
i don't have a book here, but
there is very little of that kind
of stuff that they don't have

as far as "plate mount", that's
why they make welding rods

shouldn't be a big problem. . . .
