Well i got home last night to find that someone had broken into MY HOME!! They went through the front door and took all my guns and fishing equipment. So for those of you who wanted to purchase the guns i had for sale in the classified they are now in unwanted hands. I had them for sale to make a little money to pay off some bills and now they are gone. This just goes to show that some people just have no sympothy for others. They also got my tiller and in the process of putting it in their car they busted out a window becasue i have tinted glass all in my yard. If you have had this happen to you then you know how finacially disturbing this can be. Well at least no one was hurt and they left my tv.

I feel bad for you. I was robbed at gunpoint last November then they kicked me down a flight of stairs. But other than a few bruises and a few cuts I was ok. I hope they catch the low lifes that robbed you !!

Sucks to hear about that. Hopefully, you have serial numbers for your guns. Recently, I took digital pics of each of my guns. I inserted each pic onto a Word document and added the mfg, mod #, serial #, etc. It may not help get them back if they're stolen but without that info, there's almost no chance. Also, it should make it easier to deal with my insurance company if I have pics along with the info.

Of course, the main hope is that it's never needed but it's good to be prepared.

Well here is the sad part is no insurance! And i have a pitbull that is one of my hog dogs and he was chained to the shed. He is not mean though. I just thought it would keep people away. I guess not. I am trying to find the serial numbers to the guns now. Thanks. We are going to scrap up some metal this weekend and start with an entry gate. But you know the really sad part is that they got my grandpas gun that was given to me last year when he passed. It was a 1100 ducks unlimited 20 guage and that we never be replaced. They got my mathews bow too but left the hoyt. Luckily i had the 4 wheeler chained and locked.

I take it you called the police and filed a report? Get them the serial #'s. If you do, they will never be sold at a Pawn shop.

Helomech thanks for that offer i do appreciate it. But the main reason for me posting is to make sure everyone keeps there model numbers and pics of there guns and ALWAYS lock up anything of value. I didnt think someone would do this to me, espicially when i am in a cheap single wide in the boon docks. I had all my fishing equipment stole last year outta the back of my truck here at work while i was working. So i guess the second time i have learned my lesson and i just want to make sure you guys dont let it happen for the first time because it is very difficult to replace those things.

You're too darn close to Oak Cliff and besides Duncanville has gone by the wayside like DeSoto, Cedar Hill and Lancaster. I came out of Oak Cliff back in 63' and moved to DeSoto when there was only 900 population. I lived there for 45 years and had dogs gaurding my place in the latter years and two of those dog wound up dead. One was fed a birth control pill and the other was darted with toxins. Now there is 47,000 population and the crime rate is way up. I miss all my friends but I don't miss the town! I had a nice shop where I worked on some drag cars for years and the only thing that saved me from really getting broken into were the dogs. We lived on the Northern edge of town.

Well i am about 30 minutes south of there. In ferris,tx. It isnt too bad here. Mostly farmers and ranchers and i am just oustide city limits. But we used to work in that area and we had to move it is REALLY bad.

I really miss being away from my home but we really like it here. Sorry for your losses guy. What about home owners? Think you'll recoup any of your losses through them?

I do not have any. This place was given to me by my grandma just to be around the ranch and watch over things. So i fixed it all up and i guess i was the one that needed someone to watch over my stuff. Thanks

I have a gate I keep locked that is a half mile from my house, so someone would have to either break the gate or walk in.

Sorry to hear of your loss! You might want to start hitting the local pawn shops, flea markets, classified ads, etc. and have you checked with any of your neighbors to find out if they have lost any thing? Did you have the local PD/SO come out and do a report?

I can tell you this, they won't go unpunished, that's for sure!! What goes around, comes around!

Well i know they have to replace a broken window becasue there was tinted glass in my yard where they parked to load the tiller. The sheriff dep. came out and took pictures and said it will go into an investigation. As for niehbors the only one i have is my grandma and she said nothing was missing. Unfortunatly they now have a 357 pistol with bullets in the case and it is now in the wrong hands.

Invest in a GOOD gun safe and if at all bolt it to the floor or through the floor!

ya that sucks ive had rifles stolen out of my truck and will never leave one i there again... also had them break into my shop and house.... the best investment if your gonna own firearms is a good safe that is boltd down....they knocked the lock off my safe and looked like they pryed on it for hours but never got anything...... ill tell u right now and i dont care who reads it if i ever catch someone in my house or trying tobreak in , or if come home and catch them they are dead where they stand...

oh another thing is they sell a secruty camara that hooks to your vcr that comes on with motion and records till motion stops... i bought one of those and if u istall it where it faces cars coming up to drive way it will automatically start recording as soon as the sensor is tripped.... i got one and i get the liesense of the vehicle and face shots every time some one comes to the house....

I know this may not sound good, but think of some people who have been to your place lately. Sometimes "friends" will be the ones stealing your stuff because they know where you live, what you have, where you are, and that your dog is not mean. More times than not, I've investigated burglaries where the culprit was a relative or family friend. It could be something to consider.

Whoever broke in is looking for a window today. Call auto glass companies. It is most likely an SUV back glass busted.

I just got a call from the wife and the kids that i saw riding the rode the other day(and i have never seen them around before)she went by there house and there moms ranger truck back window is busted out. I called the cops and i HOPE they do an extensive search on this hoodlems. They are known to do this around my area and i hope i dont see them before the cops do. I will keep yall updated. And yes a gun safe is my next investment.

I had 11 guns stolen 2 years ago.

MAKE SURE THAT THEY DIDN'T TAKE ANY BLANK CHECKS.
They took one box for two different accounts and wrote hot checks all over the Greenville, Quinlan, Terrell and Mesquite areas. It's amazing how many stores will take a check just because someone writes a bogus drivers license number and a fake birth date on the check.
