I hunt in Throckmorton. All I can say is spend as much time in the woods as you can from start of season thru Thanksgiving. The deer go nocturnal after that. If you want a chance at the big one, become a bow hunter if your not already.
All ready

Hunting in Young county next to Throckmorton, and I agree with what 300J said. More bucks in Oct. and a few between early Nov. until about Thanksgiving, then almost totally nocturnal. Take up bow hunting if you haven't already done so.

I've hunted Throckmorton Cty for a long while, rut is varied, but always going by 2nd week of Nov. As far as bucks going nocturnal, they are just reacting to pressure, we see bucks and deer activity all season long.

I Hunted Throckmorton for over 10 years on the same property. I always believed that regardless of weather conditions that the best, and I mean twice as good as any other time of the season(bow or gun) is between the second and third weekends of the gun season. This year it would be the 10th-18th of November, of course the dates change every year I just use this as a guideline. I know that the rut was already going before the opening of gun season but the peak in my opinion was mid Novemeber. I saw more bucks at all times of the day and bucks that I had never seen before each year during that time. More than half the Bucks I took off the property were during that period. Good Luck.

This is the most accurate rut info I've seen or heard anywhere, ---> TPWD whitetail deer rut info

Typically mid Nov is the "main" rut. Around the 15th (+ or -).
28 days later in Dec. A doe's cycle is 28 days, just like a human female, until she gets bred or stops her cycle. It is POSSIBLE for her to start a cycle as early as Sept and as late as March if she doesn't get bred.
I didn't learn this by seeing it on TV, I learned it by doing it.
