For me, it's the early morning whistling wings. The sounds of the birds scurring about before LST gets the juices a flowing.

Hearing the swoosh of wind going over the wings of birds you cant see that are circling above you. The anticipation of them coming into my line of sight gets my heart going like nothing else

i would have to say

that sound of wings just over your head just minutes before legal shoot time.

The waiting while they circle. It's maddening when they can't decide if they are going to come in or move on, but it's also the most exciting part.

This is really difficult.

Has to be mallards in the timber...that moment when the calls fall silent and the birds commit and all you hear is the wings as the birds backpedal as you watch them fall into the hole.

The high fives with my closest friends after we smoke the first group of the morning. I'll never forget that moment of joy.

The sound of a bird coming in to land on the water.

That look they have when you pop up after they are fully committed. They are in full speed reverse, trying with everything they got to get outta there, but you both know it's game over.

I enjoy the traveling to different places all over Texas and through this meeting new people and making new friends across all lines of race, heritage, background, etc, yet we all share one thing in common, we love to hunt ducks.

Shooting a greenhead that I know my brother has already got a bead on. Classic moments in duck hunting. Especially when there is only a suzie left for him to shoot.

My favorite is the splash a duck makes when it hits the water. OK so that's actually two. The splash it makes just before I pop up in the blind and the second splash it makes at the end.

But really when I am looking away, or it's too dark, or whatever and a teal sneaks in and lands my heart skips.

All the flights I cancel.
