After the "Year of the Gadwall" last year, I was curious who's going to carry a gadwall call this year? Obviously not necessary, just curious... Anyone used one with much luck previously?

I would be very surprised if it would help at all.

Never had to worry about one when I duck hunted. In fact there were times we said "more stinkin gadwalls".

No need for one, they will decoy to a mallard call all day long!

But when 10 o'clock rolls around and there's a little room left on the stringer..... Just curious to learn how effective or ineffective those with calls actually were.

I've got 2 of em, when we used to hunt the rice more I used em pretty often. There's alot of pressure out there and they've heard alot of mallard calls and whistles. Later on season just tatting on a gadwall call has worked great for me...last year I was so covered up in em it didn't matter what I used. But a gadwall call does have its place on the lanyard...well, at least in the bag.

Just huff a lame quack into your mallard call. It makes that real plain Jane quack of a gadwall. Enjoy
OMG, this is the best slumber party ever!

After sitting next to a flooded field full of em. I went out and bought one and love it.
Can't say it worked BETTER than a mallard call but definitely didn't flare any.
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

I guess that is one way to call your family to dinner, or are you trying to call the gadwall into the kitchen? As for me, I like to keep goose call on the couchside table...gets the wifes attention real quick!...

deffinetly good to switch up your calls. ducks are smart animals every duck hunter in the world blows mallard hen calls. making a more realistic spread is important and i dont know about yall but theres more gadlwalls in my area then mallard hens. think about it. they are even more productive at the end of the year when they are shying away from people blowing calls at them because they have heard more mallard hen calls through the past few month then you could imagin.
