Just wondering. I haven't bought the Public Land Permit yet, but I was wondering if anyone has and if they got the map book yet. And if so, are there any major changes from last year?

I think they send you that book after you buy the AHP, not based on last year.

Or are you talking about the drawn hunts?

Not drawn hunts, the $48 Public Hunting Permit. I know they will send it to me after I buy the permit. It might be a little closer to the first before have the cash for all of the licenses. Since my permit does not expire untill 8/31, I was hoping to do some scouting soon I wanted to check if anyone had the new maps and if anything had changed on the lake I hunt. I don't want to go scout area and then find out my entrance is closed or my spot is now considered a refuge, etc.

I would bet the 2012 2013 APH maps and book can be found on TPWD web site as pdf? The dove lands change a lot but most lands stay pretty well the same yr 2 yr

Ask Rick Perry and the TX Legislature where the money went. Also ask about the federal VAP HIP funds that could have leased more lands for dove, etc, hunting. hammer

I got a map book last month. I've bought the AHP 4 or 5 years in a row and I always turn in my survey postcard so I guess they were acting preemptively

I hunted the fields in the Krum/Sanger area for 8 years, Here is what happened in a nut shell. The state got pissed off at the land owner of the majority of the fields because he was NOT planting crops and left the fields idle and un-maintained for like 3 years in a row. 2 years ago the land owner planted ALL the fields in milo and we had a fantastic public hunt! then last year the owner backed out of the deal. I am sure the economy and the drought played into why the land owner backed out. The fields are now under the management of a local dove lease manager and if you call the Krum city hall they can give you his name. I think it is STUPID that TPWD has a slew of field NE of Dallas and NOTHING around FW.....

Hmmm - popcorn

Getting landowners to lease their land for public hunting is quite a bit more difficult than doing so for a group or controlled hunt - no one can make a private landowner lease their land regardless of what city, area or region it is within.

The new APH Map booklet is green with 6 species on the front and is the 25th Anniversay edition.
