Any good DIY ideas for decoy weights? I am starting to rig my spread and my gosh those weights are expensive. Just seeing if anyone has something brilliant to avoid me paying 15.99 for a dozen weights. AB

Jeff Elder has a pretty good way of doing it. Maybe he will post it up.

Go to tire store and ask for their used lead tire weights. Buy a mold they cost about as much as 2 dozen anchors. Now your in the anchor business for ever

Still not the cheapest, but still effective.
I use 2 oz fishing pancake weights (with water keel only, gonna need more weight with weighted keel and in fast flowing water). They hold my magnum decoys in place even on windy days unless it is a hard bottom.
Good luck finding inexpensive ways other than making your own weights. I have used OLD nuts/bolts as well that have been laying around, but buying those new are just as expensive as buying regular weights.
If you do find an inexpensive method, let us know!

I use the same fishing weights that I use for fishing. Seems like I always have enough laying around...

Go to tire store and ask for their used lead tire weights. Buy a mold they cost about as much as 2 dozen anchors. Now your in the anchor business for ever Probably your best bet right here. But if you have an old cast net laying around the weights off of it will do.

I have a couple dozen rigged with these that I bought about 10 years ago in the fishing section at Wal Mart. They were really cheap at the time.
